Just then, Rowena walked over in her heels, her face plastered with an uncontrollable look of ecstasy.
"Ian, tonight's revenue is in. We broke fifteen million dollars."
"How much?!" Ian sat up violently, his pupils contracting.
"Over fifteen million dollars."
"Hahahaha!! Incredible!!" Ian practically launched himself off the sofa in sheer excitement, pumping his fist hard as if he could already see fleets of luxury cars and mansions waving at him.
"Among them, Penelope Sterling tipped the hardest. She dropped over three million dollars by herself," Rowena said, scrolling through the analytics. "Jocelyn, Sheila, and the others also contributed nearly two million."
Ian narrowed his slanted eyes, a calculating, wicked smile pulling at his lips. "As expected of the Sterling heiress, her pockets are deep. Looks like from now on, I just need to focus on keeping her happy. As for the others... I'll keep them at arm's length, just stringing them along."
Before he even finished speaking, the phone on the table buzzed. Penelope's name flashed across the screen.
Ian raised an eyebrow, took a deep breath, and instantly adjusted his facial muscles into an expression of deep affection before answering the call.
"Darling, what's wrong?"
His voice was sickeningly sweet, laced with just the right amount of magnetism and intimacy. It instantly turned Penelope's bones to jelly, making her heart soar.
"Ian... I had everything planned out today. I was going to celebrate your birthday at The Meridian Club, but..." Penelope's voice cracked with tears. "My dad grounded me. I can't leave the house."
"That is such a shame." Ian's voice dropped, saturated with heavy disappointment, while his handsome face actually bloomed with overwhelming relief. "Darling, since your father gave the order, you absolutely must not disobey him."
He paused, his tone growing even more sincere. "I wouldn't want to cause friction between you and my future father-in-law because of me. That would break my heart, and I'd be devastated."
Hearing that, Penelope's eyes lit up instantly. The words 'future father-in-law' acted like an adrenaline shot, instantly blowing away her depression.
Did this mean Ian was ready to marry her?
"Ian, I..."
"Darling, I'm so sorry, but the staff is rushing me to the afterparty. I have to go." Unwilling to listen to her ramble, Ian swiftly cut to the chase. "By the way, you mentioned you booked a suite at The Meridian, right?"
"Yes, but..."
"Darling, you are so incredibly thoughtful. The team and I are so grateful for your arrangements. I have to go, Rowena is rushing me. Bye."
