Pierce didn't want to waste words. Just as he was about to type a single "Do it," he stopped, sensing something was off.
Pierce: "Take a picture of the bidder and send it to me."
Caspian quickly sent a photo. When Pierce saw the proud, queen-like figure in the picture, everything suddenly made perfect sense.
Pierce: "Drop the Buddha head. Let her have it."
Caspian: "Huh? Why let her have it? Didn't you just say to win it at any cost?"
Pierce: "Let her have it."
The simple, commanding words left absolutely no room for argument.
Caspian sighed in frustration. He thought he'd finally get to use Pierce's wealth to show off in front of a crowd and look incredibly cool.
But Pierce had slammed on the brakes for absolutely no reason.
Meanwhile, Pierce stared at the woman in the photo, the smile on his lips refusing to fade.
"If she's there in person, there's no point in competing," he sighed, feeling a bit helpless. "I thought I could help you out this time, but... you moved even faster than I expected."
*Screech—*
The car came to a halt.
Yancy turned around respectfully and said, "Boss, we're here."
Pierce put his phone away. Looking at the people waiting on the pier ahead, the smile vanished from his face, replaced by a bone-chilling coldness.
Back at the auction hall.
Phoenix threw out another bid. "6.4 million."
This time, Caspian didn't counter. He just slumped back in his chair, looking utterly defeated and frustrated.
"6.4 million, going once."
"6.4 million, going twice."
"6.4 million, sold."
When the auctioneer's gavel struck, ownership of the White Jade Buddha Head officially went to Phoenix.
Eleanor's face was terrifyingly dark. Not only had she angered Milton, but she had also made a fool of herself in front of the entire crowd. The fiery rage burning inside her had nowhere to be unleashed.
"Director Prescott, as the owner of Southern Heritage Antiques, would you mind explaining the significance of this Buddha head to an amateur like me?"
Amid her chaotic thoughts, Phoenix's voice snapped Eleanor back to reality. She couldn't help but ask suspiciously, "You know me?"
"Of course," Phoenix smiled, gesturing politely toward the nearby lounge area.
Eleanor hesitated but eventually followed her. She was now absolutely certain this mysterious woman had come specifically for her.
The lounge area featured private rooms meant for guests to negotiate deals.
