Meanwhile, the tech department at Ignis Global was in full combat mode.
Phoenix took charge personally, her fingers flying across the keyboard in a blur as she rapidly locked onto the brief signal trace.
"Got it!"
Phoenix's eyes lit up, a dangerous smirk playing on her lips. "Macy, pass down the order. Filter and eliminate all dead zones in the East District. We have to pinpoint Quinn's exact location before tomorrow."
"On it!"
Macy spun around, barking orders at the elite engineers. "Ms. Prescott just locked down the general coordinates from that intercepted signal. I want the exact location triangulated within the hour!"
Phoenix had just grabbed her thermos for a sip of water and nearly choked when she heard Macy's tyrannical deadline.
"Macy, isn't that a little extreme?" she said, exasperated. "An hour? You're going to give them heart attacks."
Macy lifted her chin haughtily. "Don't baby them, Phoenix. They're pulling the highest salaries in the industry. If they can't handle a simple deadline, what's the point of keeping them? I'll fire the lot of them."
She spoke to Phoenix, but her voice carried across the room. Every engineer straightened up, a collective shiver running down their spines as they hammered their keyboards with renewed desperation.
Ignis Global had incredibly deep pockets. They were making millions of dollars a year. Nobody wanted to lose a golden gig like this.
Watching the team spin into overdrive like a well-oiled machine, Phoenix let out a breath. With everyone collaborating, cracking the location within an hour was entirely feasible.
Warren Prescott was a paranoid old fox.
To ensure absolute secrecy, he had hidden his private hospital exceptionally well. Aside from his inner circle, no one knew it existed. The facility itself was heavily disguised to blend in with the surrounding area.
But thanks to Phoebe's careless video call, Phoenix had traced the signal right to the East District. Now, it was just a matter of tightening the net.
"I guess I should be grateful Warren kept Quinn alive," Phoenix murmured. "He thought he could use her as a bargaining chip against Lewis if I ever tried to flip the script."
"But he has no idea he just handed us the bullet to put right between his eyes."
Macy chuckled wickedly. "What goes around comes around. Warren thinks he's got Lewis on a leash, but he doesn't know you got to him first and set the trap."
The moment Phoebe approached Lewis, he had immediately reported it to them.
The Prescotts thought they were backing Phoenix into a corner, completely unaware they were marching straight into a slaughterhouse.
