Julian stepped out from the back of the crowd. His eyes were bloodshot and intense, swirling with a bottomless pit of guilt and raw determination.
Phoenix raised an eyebrow. She clearly hadn't expected the man who once despised her the most to stand up and testify against the sister he used to cherish above all else.
"Julian? What... what are you doing?!" Phoebe's pupils shrank, panic written all over her face. "Are you teaming up with Phoenix to frame me?! I'm your sister! You've always spoiled me the most. How could you do this to me?!"
"Shut up!!"
The veins bulged on Julian's forehead as he roared through gritted teeth. "If it wasn't for your constant manipulation, I never would have misunderstood Phoenix! I never would have hurt her like that!"
He raised a trembling hand, pointing fiercely at Phoebe, his fingers shaking with absolute rage. "Phoebe, the toxic cancer ruining this family was never Phoenix. It was you! You are the reason our family has been dragged straight to hell!"
"Ian was disfigured and ruined because of you! Sebastian's career was destroyed because of you! It's all because of you!"
"No! It wasn't me!! I didn't do it!" Phoebe shook her head frantically, a pathetic final struggle.
But in the face of the irrefutable video evidence, her pitiful victim routine could no longer buy her an ounce of sympathy. Whether it was the live audience or the millions online, looking at her now only made them physically sick.
Julian took a deep breath, looking as though a crushing weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He turned to face Phoenix.
"Phoenix, I'm sorry... I was wrong."
Phoenix let out a cold laugh, her gaze freezing over. "What's the point of realizing you're wrong now? Julian, we've legally severed our ties. We haven't been siblings for a long time. Save the tragic acting. It makes me nauseous."
Her response was brutally cold, slicing into Julian's chest like a dull blade and bringing a sharp wave of agonizing regret.
But he knew perfectly well he brought this on himself. The bloody wounds of the past couldn't be erased with just a few empty apologies.
"I know you'll never forgive me, Phoenix. And that's okay..." Julian turned his back to her, facing the furious crowd. "Right now, I just want to atone."
He took a deep breath and shouted, "Everyone—the real killer from the car crash four years ago was Phoebe!"
That single sentence dropped like a bombshell, paralyzing Phoebe where she stood.
Julian's testimony was undoubtedly the final nail in the coffin.
"I can say this with absolute certainty because I was part of the cover-up. I personally pushed my own biological sister, Phoenix, out to take the fall for Phoebe."
"I was the one who altered the security footage and manufactured the fake evidence to pin a crime she didn't commit entirely on Phoenix's shoulders."
Julian looked back at Phoenix, his eyes entirely hollowed out by guilt and helplessness.
Phoenix frowned slightly. Julian was actually planning to shoulder the entire legal blow for perjury himself?
