"Mr. Alistair, our projects are facing severe pushback from all our clients right now. If the investors pull their funding or cancel their contracts, we're completely finished." Someone finally broke the silence, laying bare the bloody reality. "Our top priority must be to calm the public backlash and reassure our partners."
"Oh, that's easy for you to say. The public outrage is a runaway train right now. Do you really think a couple of PR statements will fix this? Besides, Alistair's previous personal statement already bankrupted our credibility. No one will believe a word we say now!"
"Then what do we do? Sit here and wait to die? Wait for the Prescott Group to go bankrupt and be liquidated?"
"The stock is crashing, and rival factions are already shorting us. If we don't turn this around, we all go down together!"
In an instant, the boardroom erupted into chaos, with shareholders turning red in the face as they hurled accusations at one another.
The noise made Alistair's head throb. He slammed his hand against the table and roared, "Enough! I called you here to solve the problem, not to pass the blame!"
The room instantly fell silent.
Alistair's face was dark as a thundercloud as his gaze shifted to Ethan and Caleb.
"Ethan, Caleb, do you have any proposals?"
Ethan exchanged a glance with Caleb, and Caleb finally bit the bullet and spoke up. "Mr. Alistair, I think our only way out of this... is to ask Phoenix to come back and take charge."
Alistair's pupils constricted sharply, and his hands clenched tightly under the table.
Bring Phoenix back? Wouldn't that be a massive slap in the face?
He was the one who had publicly released a statement banishing Phoenix from the family, and now he was supposed to swallow his pride and beg her to return? If word of this got out, the authority and reputation he had built over a lifetime would crumble into a joke in seconds.
"Yes, bring Phoenix back!" Terrence Quinn suddenly chimed in, breaking the stalemate. "This entire media storm started because of her, and she holds immense influence with the public. As long as she's willing to return and take the reins, our stock will absolutely bounce back! Our partners will regain their confidence just on her name alone!"
Terrence's words struck like lightning, lighting up the eyes of many shareholders.
He was right! Phoenix didn't just have Pierce Sterling and Macy Monroe backing her now; she even had the unfathomable support of the prestigious Mu family. If she agreed to come back, this crisis wouldn't just be resolved—the Prescott Group might even come out stronger than before!
Only Alistair's face remained as black as pitch.
Inviting a deity is easy; sending them away is the hard part—especially when it meant begging that ungrateful traitor of a granddaughter.
He had spent his entire life making others cater to him. Asking him to beg Phoenix at his age was worse than killing him.
"Mr. Alistair, the company cannot survive without Phoenix!"
"Exactly! If you can't bring yourself to do it, make Warren go! It was his failure as a father that cost the company so dearly. He has to take responsibility for this!"
Alistair looked up, meeting a sea of eager, demanding eyes.
He couldn't fight the collective will of the board. If he refused, he would be completely isolated.
