Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 360

Ethan froze for a moment, his gaze turning assessing and slightly concerned as he looked at Phoenix. “Phoenix, you were the one who recommended Sloane and Yvette for those positions. Without your approval, how could I dare act on my own?”

“You've got it all wrong, Ethan.” Phoenix's lips curled into a highly meaningful smirk. “I never recommended Sloane and Yvette. They were planted here by the old man himself. They're his 'good granddaughters,' after all.”

Shock flickered in Ethan's eyes as he instantly grasped the hidden meaning behind her words. He lowered his head slightly. “I understand. I'll take care of it right now.”

Watching Ethan hurry out the door, Yolanda couldn't help but speak up. “Phoenix, didn't you just let Sloane and Yvette into the company to stir up trouble? Now that you hold absolute power, keeping those two idiots around really is useless.”

“No, they still have one last bit of residual value.” Phoenix raised an eyebrow, a bottomless, dark glint flashing in her eyes.

Meanwhile, in the HR department.

Yvette sat aggressively in the manager's swivel chair, admiring her newly done diamond-studded manicure. She cast an arrogant, sidelong glance at the employee sitting across from her, Derek Wagner. “The notice has already been issued. You've been fired. Why are you still lingering around here?”

“Ms. Prescott, I've met all my performance targets. In fact, I've exceeded them! You have no legitimate reason to fire me!” Derek's eyes were bloodshot, his fists clenched tight. “Just because I talked back to you yesterday, you're going to abuse your power and destroy my livelihood!”

Yvette stopped admiring her nails, crossed her arms, and stared at him coldly, as if looking at a bug. “Heh, get your head straight, Derek. This is the Prescott Group. It belongs to the Prescotts! Therefore... as a member of the Prescott family, I can fire whoever I want!”

“I'll report you to the labor board!” Derek was trembling with rage. “This is blatant workplace bullying!”

“Go ahead! The doors are wide open. Go file your lawsuit right now!” Yvette rolled her eyes dismissively and sneered. “Our legal department employs plenty of people. They have all the time and resources in the world to drag this out with you. Let's see who breaks first.”

Derek's face drained of color. He knew perfectly well how vicious a large corporation's legal team could be. Once they intentionally dragged out the legal process, a regular worker like him simply couldn't afford to waste the time and energy.

“Fine... you can fire me,” Derek said through gritted teeth, struggling to swallow his anger. “But by law, you have to pay me severance!”

“Are you out of your mind?”

At that moment, a shrill, spiteful female voice cut through the air. Sloane strutted over in her high heels, her face full of disdain. “If you're going to get the hell out, then get out. You want severance? You won't get a single penny!”
