At Ethan Prescott's command, two burly security guards immediately stepped forward, grabbing the two women by their arms.
"Let go of me! Ethan, you're going to regret this! Once Alistair finds out, you're dead meat!"
"Phoenix brought us in! She hasn't even said a word yet, we demand to see her!"
The two struggled like wild banshees, but Ethan remained completely unmoved, refusing to give them a single chance to argue.
Watching Sloane and Yvette being dragged out in disgrace, Derek Wagner felt a suffocating weight finally lift from his chest. His eyes gleamed with the sweet satisfaction of vengeance.
"Derek, the company has taken note of your hard work over the years. This was an internal management failure, and you were wronged," Ethan said, turning around with a softened tone. "According to company policy, we will offer you full compensation. Of course, if you're willing, you can choose to stay. The choice is yours, and everything will be handled by the book."
"Thank you, Mr. Prescott!" Derek wiped a tear from his eye, his voice choked with emotion but resolute. "I've worked here for years, and I was genuinely ready to give up. But now... seeing that there are still executives like you who will stand up for everyday employees, I want to stay. I want to keep giving my all for this company!"
"Good."
Ethan smiled warmly, then waved his hand to disperse the employees who had gathered in the hallway.
Back in the vice president's office, his son Caleb had been waiting on the sofa for quite some time, a heavy knot of worry etched between his brows.
"Dad, I heard you just threw Sloane and Yvette out?" Caleb looked up, his tone laced with concern.
"I did." Ethan walked over to his desk, sat down, and took a sip from his teacup. "Those two were nothing but destructive parasites. They had to be purged immediately."
Caleb let out a frustrated sigh. "But Phoenix intentionally planted them here to stir up chaos. By kicking them out, aren't you disrupting her plan?"
"I was testing the waters." Ethan set his cup down, a complicated sigh escaping his lips. "Caleb, whether it's Sloane, Yvette, or the two of us, from the very beginning, we were all just pieces on her chessboard."
"Now that she has won the larger game, we pawns have lost our usefulness."
Caleb froze, a bitter wave of inadequacy washing over him. He had been praised as a business prodigy since childhood, but ever since going up against Phoenix, he had learned what true dominance looked like.
Compared to his brilliant, calculating cousin, he was merely a flickering candle trying to outshine the moon.
