"Heh, Mavis played the perfect 'blind spot' strategy. She's ruthlessly clever," Phoenix's eyes narrowed dangerously, a hint of lingering dread in her voice. "If it weren't for the tracker, even I would have fallen for her smokescreen and thought Merry was shipped overseas."
"Then where exactly is she hidden?!" Cora desperately grabbed Phoenix's hand. "When we were walking around, did you lock down the location?"
"I did." Phoenix squeezed her hand back to reassure her, though her gaze remained lethally cold. "But we absolutely cannot alert the enemy right now. Before we rescue her, we have to purge every single spy inside the estate."
"Spies?" Cora was stunned, unable to process the betrayal. "She actually has moles inside the house?"
"Why else do you think Mavis had the guts to hide her right here?" Phoenix scoffed. "She planted eyes and ears in this house a long time ago. The second we make a move toward Merry, those spies will instantly relocate her, or worse... silence her permanently."
As she said those last words, a terrifying, murderous aura exploded from Phoenix.
She knew Mavis's true nature all too well. That woman would do whatever it took to win. Marcus had been played like a fiddle by her, ultimately leading to his total destruction.
Cora took a deep breath, forcing down her panic, and her eyes hardened with resolve. "Phoenix, I know you already have a plan. Tell me what you need me to do. I'll follow your lead completely!"
Meanwhile, back in the main hall.
The tension was thick. Pierce and Gideon sat across from each other, breaking down the proposed partnership between the Millers and the Osbornes.
According to the intel, the Osbornes intended to use the Miller family as a springboard to aggressively invade the new energy vehicle market, using it as a Trojan horse to devour Cloudhaven's entire market share.
"Our family just started investing in the new energy sector a few years ago. Our foundation is weak, and we lack both the tech and the talent to break through the bottleneck. The Osborne family extending an olive branch right now is exactly the lifeline we need. We literally have no reason to refuse." Thaddeus sighed, offering a bitter smile. "After all, they have the technology, the experts, and bottomless pockets."
"Mr. Miller, no matter what, we strongly recommend pushing this deal forward!"
"Exactly! Our growth has stagnated for years. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to break the ceiling. Please reconsider!"
