Phoenix smirked. She leisurely pulled out her phone, tapping a file open and waving it. "I happen to have a list right here. It details everyone who has been in close contact with Mavis Miller recently."
"Of course, you can try to argue your way out of this. You could say she used to be a member of this family, so keeping in touch is perfectly normal."
"But—"
Phoenix's tone shifted. A sudden, lethal chill flashed in her eyes. The suffocating aura radiating from her forced Thaddeus and Milo, standing nearby, to hold their breath.
"I despise complications. So..." she parted her red lips, delivering her verdict with icy precision. "I'd rather take down the innocent than let a single rat slip away."
With a flick of her finger, she pointed straight at a few unassuming servants and bodyguards in the crowd. "Take them down."
Before her voice even faded, the color drained from the faces of those she singled out. They spun around and sprinted toward the door.
But Pierce was already prepared.
He gave a casual hand signal. Dozens of men in black, who had been waiting like predators in the shadows, lunged forward. In the blink of an eye, the fleeing traitors were pinned brutally to the floor.
"Mercy! Miss Prescott, please! I'll tell you everything!" one of the pinned servants shrieked, his courage completely shattered.
"It wasn't just us! A few of the executives are the real moles! They put us up to it!"
Desperate to save their own skins, the spineless turncoats spilled everything, instantly ratting out several high-ranking executives within the Miller Group who had been hiding in the shadows.
The executives named immediately turned ashen. Their legs gave out, and they collapsed to the floor, muttering in despair, "It's over... it's all over..."
"Phoenix, it seems they saved us the trouble of an interrogation." Pierce shoved a hand into his pocket and strolled lazily to her side, watching the chaos with a predatory amusement. "Look at that. They confessed without us even trying."
Phoenix shrugged innocently and put her phone away. "There wasn't actually a list. I just noticed those guys looking shifty and sweating bullets, so I bluffed. Who knew it would work so well?"
A dead silence fell over the room.
Everyone stared at her, dumbfounded, looking at her like she was a lunatic. She used a fake list to bluff them? If she had pointed at the wrong people, she would have offended the entire household!
