"Ten million!!"

Warren took a deep breath, practically forcing the words through his gritted teeth.

Vanessa and Phoebe were stunned, but for the sake of the marriage with the Sterling family, they swallowed their outrage.

"Now that's more like it, Father!" Phoenix smirked and slid a slip of paper onto the table. "Please wire the ten million to this account."

Warren glared at the slip of paper, snatched it up, and immediately called his secretary, barking an order to have finance wire the money.

A moment later, Phoenix received the notification for the ten-million-dollar transfer.

"Are you satisfied now, Phoenix?"

"Yeah, it's alright."

"Then leave. Right now."

A cunning smile broke across Phoenix's face. "Oh, I'm perfectly happy with the ten million, but... when did I ever say I was leaving?"

"Phoenix Prescott!!!" Warren roared. The fury he had been suppressing finally detonated. "It seems if I don't teach you a brutal lesson today, you won't realize just how out of line you are!"

"Guards!!"

Instantly, the Prescott family's bodyguards swarmed into the room, surrounding them.

"Phoenix, you might be my daughter, but you clearly have no manners or respect for your elders. You need to be punished," Vanessa spat viciously.

Phoebe hid in the back, watching the drama unfold with internal glee. You stupid bitch, we gave you an out, and you blew it.

She could have taken the ten million and lived comfortably, but now she had pushed their father over the edge. Let's see if she could walk out of here on her own two feet!

However, standing surrounded by imposing bodyguards, Phoenix remained completely calm, utterly unbothered.

She casually stretched her neck. "Father, Mother, do you want to know what I learned during my four years in prison?"

"!!"

Phoebe shook her head, mocking her internally. Phoenix has completely lost her mind. How dare she even fantasize about Pierce? Did four years without a man make her delusional?

Outwardly, though, she feigned innocence and pity. "Phoenix, Mr. Sterling is here to officially propose and honor the marriage agreement between our families."

"Even though I never meant to take your place as the heiress all these years, my heart belongs to him, and he cares for me too. As long as you don't try to steal him from me, I'll give you whatever you want."

Phoenix rolled her eyes, genuinely amused by Phoebe's ridiculous speech.

"Phoenix, look at Phoebe! Look how sensible she is. Now get back to your room this instant, and don't embarrass us," Warren demanded urgently, but Phoenix didn't move an inch.

"Phoenix, behave!!"

"You've got quite a temper, Mr. Prescott."

Right as Warren shouted, Pierce strode into the grand hall.

Phoenix narrowed her eyes, meeting Pierce's piercing gaze, and a slight smirk played on her lips.

The show was about to begin.
