Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 64

The air inside the reception room was thick with tension.

Quentin and Macy's patience was nearing its absolute limit.

Just as they glanced at the clock, noting their time was almost up, and prepared to stand up and walk out, the door clicked open.

"Sorry for the wait, you two."

Phoenix walked in.

Her steps were unhurried, her posture elegant, and every subtle movement exuded an innate, commanding presence. This aura completely shattered the preconceived notions Quentin had formed about her.

Although he had read her file before coming, seeing her in person finally made him understand Yancy's previous assessment.

When he had asked Yancy what kind of woman Pierce's new partner was, Yancy had only given one sentence:

*A woman who actually terrifies me.*

Yancy had been by Pierce's side for years and had seen every storm imaginable. For him to give such a glowing appraisal proved Phoenix was unimaginably deep.

Now, seeing her with his own eyes, Quentin had to admit... Yancy wasn't exaggerating in the slightest.

"Phoenix!!" Macy cheered, launching herself forward like a swallow returning to its nest and pulling Phoenix into a tight hug. "You're finally here!"

"Sorry, I got delayed by some trivial matters." Phoenix smiled faintly, gently patting her best friend's back to comfort her. Her gaze, however, bypassed Macy and landed squarely on Quentin, her eyes turning instantly frosty. "You're the representative from Pierce's company?"

Quentin instinctively adjusted his glasses, instantly dropping the aggressive demeanor he had used against the Prescott men, and replaced it with a warm, professional smile. "Hello, Ms. Prescott. I'm Quentin, managing the negotiations for The Legacy District Project."

"Since we're short on time, let's skip the pleasantries and sign the contracts." Phoenix's tone brooked no argument. The suffocating wave of pressure she emitted made Quentin momentarily hallucinate that he was standing in front of Pierce.

Macy was even more straightforward. Without a word, she pulled out her contract and handed it over, skipping the negotiation of terms entirely.

Phoenix took the pen and, without even glancing at the document, signed her name in one fluid motion.

Quentin was speechless.

These two women were way too reckless!

This was a billion-dollar project. If there was a trap buried in the clauses or an error in the terms, they could lose everything.

"Director Quentin?"

"Tell him that if Phoebe wants the West City core development contract, she needs to bring 'the item' and come get it herself."

Felix was a bit confused. Why wouldn't she just send both contracts together? Why force Phoebe to make a trip?

Despite his confusion, his main job was to follow orders. He stood at attention. "Consider it done!"

Watching Felix leave, Macy frowned in disgust. "Phoenix, why did you take in a lackey like him? How about I quit my job and become your assistant here instead?"

"Felix might be ugly, and he's definitely a creep, but his redeeming quality is that he's useful." Phoenix scoffed coldly, a flash of cunning in her eyes. "People like him are entirely expendable. If he breaks, I won't lose any sleep over it."

"Phoenix, you really do love me. You just don't want me to overwork myself." Macy hugged her happily, looking thoroughly blissful.

Quentin adjusted his glasses once more. His instincts screamed at him to leave immediately. If he stayed any longer and heard something he wasn't supposed to, these two women might just silence him permanently.

"Ms. Prescott, since our business here is concluded, I'll take my leave."

"Thank you for your hard work, Director Quentin." Phoenix gave him a faint smile, adding meaningfully, "When you get back, tell Pierce that we should grab dinner sometime."

Quentin's eyes lit up. "I will absolutely pass that along."
