The sudden chaos brought the dinner to a screeching halt.

Nina walked Sarah all the way down to the street, her face tight with guilt. "I am so sorry, Sarah. This is all my fault. I never should have introduced you to that piece of trash and put you through this."

To Nina, Sarah had always been kind and grounded, always taking care of everyone around her. A woman like that deserved to be cherished, not humiliated and thrown away.

Sarah's expression remained perfectly calm, completely devoid of the devastation Nina expected. In fact, she looked far more composed than her furious friend.

"It's not your fault. I was just blind. I couldn't tell the difference between a decent man and a monster."

"Good riddance to that soulless jerk! You're completely free now!" Nina linked her arm through Sarah's, her tone fierce and unyielding. "You are gorgeous and a brilliant doctor. You deserve someone a million times better."

Sarah couldn't help but laugh at her friend's aggressive loyalty. She gently patted Nina's hand. "Alright, stop stressing over it. I'm honestly completely over him. By the way, congratulations on the salon! I hope business booms!"

Nina had just officially opened her own beauty salon a few days ago, which was the 'good news' she had called about.

"Thanks! If you ever need a facial, you know who to call!" Nina finally let go of her arm. "Get home safe, and text me the second you walk through the door."

Sarah nodded, flagged down a passing cab, and disappeared into the night.

As the taillights faded into the distance, the smile vanished from Nina's face, replaced by pure, unadulterated rage. She spun on her heel and marched back toward the restaurant.

Dante had just finished paying the bill. When he looked up and saw his wife's murderous expression, he immediately put on a placating smile. "Hey, honey—"

"Let me ask you something. Did you know Jared was hooking up with Samantha?" Nina demanded.

"I swear on my life, I had no idea!" Dante threw his hands up in surrender. "If I knew he had cheated on Sarah and was pulling this kind of sick stunt, I never would have let him in the building!"

"Sarah dumped that cheating garbage!" Nina barked, making sure her stance was crystal clear. "I don't want you hanging around someone with zero morals. It makes me sick just looking at him."
