The next morning, running on a few hours of terrible sleep, Sarah arrived at the hospital right on time.
She had barely stepped out of the locker room in her white coat when a small group of people charged down the hallway, heading straight for her.
The man leading them was middle-aged, his face flushed red and his eyes wild with rage. Before she could react, he grabbed her violently by the collar. "Are you Sarah Vance?! You butcher! My mother was perfectly fine until you put those needles in her, and now she's paralyzed! You're a monster!"
The morning rush had already begun, and dozens of patients waiting for their sessions turned to stare.
Sarah choked as her collar tightened. Forcing herself to stay calm, she pried the man's fingers off her uniform. "Sir, please calm down! I ran a full diagnostic before her treatment. My placement and technique were flawless. There is absolutely no way my session caused paralysis. There has to be a misunderstanding."
"Misunderstanding?" the man sneered, his voice echoing off the walls. "My mother is lying in a bed completely paralyzed, and you're trying to dodge the blame?"
A woman behind him suddenly wailed, lunging forward to grab Sarah's hair. "What misunderstanding?! She walked in here perfectly fine yesterday and collapsed after she saw you! You butcher! You're killing people!"
Sarah dodged to the side, but the woman managed to rip a button clean off her coat.
Despite the chaos, Sarah's eyes remained cold and sharp. She didn't show a single ounce of panic.
Looking at the perfectly orchestrated outrage of the family, a chilling realization hit her.
This was a setup. They came here to publicly execute her career without giving her a second to defend herself.
"If you have proof of medical malpractice, present the evidence. I am more than happy to see you in court!"
"Look at her!" the woman screamed, pointing frantically at Sarah. "Look at this butcher! She paralyzed my mother and won't even admit it! Look at that plastic Barbie face, does she look like a real doctor to you?!"
The commotion drew the Department Director and several nurses, who rushed in to break up the mob.
