Skyla opened her mouth hesitantly feeling smothered by Ophelia’s searing rage. Did she… Make a mistake?
Ophelia disregarded her entirely and entered the throne room, where she saw Nikolai sitting on the first step of the staircase leading to his throne.
They were three battered looking wolves looking like they were on the verge of shifting kneeling in front of him.
Nikolai was brandishing a sword at them, wearing a cold, menacing expression and they were all cringing in dread, as did the guards stationed outside the chamber.
The moment he caught her heart beat, Nikolai looked up to her face, his demeanor softened. “FireStorm!” His rich, deep voice was full of mirth.
Everyone, with the exception of Ophelia, who was still frowning and staring at him, felt shivers at his abrupt change in behavior.
“What’s with that cute frown?” He questioned as he got up and moved to face her, playfully putting his face near to hers.
Shock nearly killed the guards and battered wolves. They thought they were in the company of the devil or, worse, the supreme blood moon deity because Nikolai had been tormenting them with his menacing comments for so long!
To their surprise, Nikolai’s aura and mood changed abruptly all because of the presence of his mate. They were just so stunned at the sudden shift!
Ophelia buried her face in his chest as she gripped his coat. “I met Alina.”
“Hmm.” Nikolai held Ophelia’s waist as his expression darkened.
The scent.

His nose was being assaulted by that alluring scent, which had been so potent during the council meeting in the main hall that he had to fight to keep his eyes off the person who was wielding it.
His gaze narrowed as he noticed her standing at the doorway. Her face was pale with hurt as she fixed her wide eyes on him. His purportedly second mate.
His arms wrapped around Ophelia, his eyes blazing.
Skyla retreated a step and bolted from sight.
Nikolai remained silent regarding her behavior nor did he consider saying anything about her.
He disappeared from view with Ophelia, reappearing in their bedroom and embracing her.
“Did she provoke you? I sense your rage.” He asked as he moved over to the chair, sat down, and settled her onto his lap.
She leant her face against his, her arms wrapping his neck. “Nothing happened.”
“Are you sure?” Nikolai asked, his long, graceful finger lifting her chin.
Grinning, Ophelia clasped his wrist with both hands. “I think seeing you dissolved all those feelings.”
“Is that so?” Nikolai’s eyes shone brightly. Feelings? She must have met Skyla.
“Yes.” Ophelia put her palm on his cheek, smiling even brighter.
Nikolai gave her his full attention and concentration. Why did that forced yet genuine smile look so real? Her gaze… It showed delight as well as anguish. Was there anything on her mind that concerned her? Anything she was unable to tell him? He wasn’t sure if he should ask her because he

was uncertain as to whether she would respond.
He decided to keep his mouth shut and just press his lips to hers. Kissing her slowly and passionately, whilst she replied with pureness, serenity.
“FireStorm,” With a heavy sigh, he pulled away and closed his eyes, placing her forehead against hers. “Your coronation will be held soon.”
Ophelia gasped. “Coronation?” Did she really give it that much thought? She had no chance of fitting in this society of wolf shifters. There won’t be any acceptance. Maria was right. No acceptance. Her own family hardly acknowledged her at all… Ophelia’s heart tightened, but Nikolai’s presence was overpowering the bad thoughts that were stirring in her soul. Her marriage to the Alpha king did make it obvious that she was Luna. Tensed by that choice, she pressed her lips. “I do not think it is…”
“Are you bothered about acceptance?” Her breath caught as he gently asked, brushing his nose against hers.
“I..” Reluctantly, Ophelia trailed off. She was reminded by Maria’s actions towards her. It was the same way dragons treated the wolf shifters.
“I want you to think positively.” Again, Nikolai brushed his nose against hers and whispered.
Ophelia pushed her head back, feeling goosebumps bursting from her skin, but he smiled, grasped her chin, and kissed the bridge of her nose.
“Ah!” Ophelia’s face turned bright red.
Her adorable response made Nikolai laugh heartily and her cheeks
continued to flush.
“A pure blooded lycan and a golden dragon…”
“Yes…” Nikolai drewled, staring at her teasingly. She was so adorable!
“The war!” Ophelia gasped. Their union might bring their kind to complete

unity.

“Yes.” Nikolai nodded.
Ophelia chortled. “At this point, it’s not going to be easy.”
Nikolai tilted his head, his eyes glinting ominously. “Why can’t you let me be your knight in shining armor?”
Ophelia’s eyes grew wide. “You aren’t?”
“I’m not?!” Nikolai raised an eyebrow.
“Nikolai,” Ophelia laughed, her head bobbing.
Cupping her face, Nikolai, “Please. Is it okay to lock you in here? or in the
hidden room? Or…”
Ophelia put her finger to his lips to silence him.
His eyes went dull.
“No.” She adamantly declined.
Nikolai brushed his hot breath against her finger.
“Eee!” Ophelia removed her finger as intense shivers sprang through her
skin.
“I would like not to see any scratches on your body. My marks are exceptions.” He put his arms around her waist, relaxed his forehead against hers, and mumbled calmly.
Ophelia smiled. “Shall I say the same thing to you?”
