The rage that accompanied that question astounded Ophelia. She could tell that Nikolai was trying to talk himself out of doing something he would later regret because of how tightly he held her. That person… He was a blood moon god. Nikolai was clearly agitated by the presence of the god in front of them, but it also seemed as though he was hesitant to act immediately. Bloodshed?
She fixed her gaze on him. His jaw was clenched. Those tempest eyes were ablaze with rage and displeasure. She wanted to calm him down.
“I am not here to…”
“Hold your tongue.” Nikolai growled and turned to face Rhaziel, who was giving him a glum look. “What brings him here?”
“Father must have reasoned that since they will protect you, it would be best to have them around. I cannot conceive of any other explanation.” Rhaziel replied bluntly.
“A god is not something I want in my life. They talk about fate and lick each other’s asses. They are all hypocrites.” Nikolai growled and turned his attention to Ophelia, who was staring at him with wide eyes.
Her eyes shrank and blinked more slowly, while his grew softer.
“There is something regarding the blood pearl that you should be aware of.” Valerian suddenly said.
Nikolai shot a murderous glare at the god, his eyes widening with rage.

A shiver went down Valerian’s spine. Just for a moment… He briefly believed that his master had returned. He shooed the hairs that hung down over his forehead behind him and shook his head, forcing a smile.
“A witch opened a gateway to the celestial domain with the blood pearl. A mortal or a spirit cannot completely inhabit a celestial domain, so entering was not the plan. It is impossible.” He leaned his back against the wall, explaining in a casual manner. He would not tolerate rudeness from Nikolai just because he was the incarnation of his master. For him, Nikolai was mortal, and he was god. He could kill him with a single flick of his finger.
A twisted realization appeared in Nikolai’s dilated eyes. “A gateway?”
“Gateway?” Ophelia was stunned. How was that even possible?
Rhaziel frowned. “This is bad.” He muttered, referring to Nikolai whose face darkened.
“What does that signify?” Ophelia felt confused, but she also sensed that the meaning, whatever it might be, was not good.
“It implies that power was drawn into the pearl when it was opened.” Responding, Valerian sighed deeply.
Ophelia couldn’t believe her ears. “Which implies that it will be
unbreakable if it is used to control Nikolai?”
Rhaziel tightened his jaw. “Why didn’t I sense anything about this?”
Nikolai remained silent. True enough, he was aware that night the blood pearl was out and about. After all, the person wielding the blood pearl was constantly sneaking into the castle. He was ignorant. It was something he ought to have taken action on. An unbreakable control…
“Unfortunately, because you were born on the night of the blood moon, you have an extremely strong connection to the blood pearl. The

appearance of the blood moon…” Valerian’s expression darkened as he trailed off.
Since Nikolai’s passing, the blood moon that was meant to emerge did not do so. Yet, it started to appear without any activations over the course of the following 300 centuries. They were not like the others. Those were dangerously powerful times for the blood moon gods, to the point where most of them started rebelling against one another, taking the lead in battles and causing havoc over other celestial domains.
There were very few births during the blood moons. More precisely, one baby born in a single day.
The supreme master blood moon god ultimately took on the form of one of those children.
“I am done listening to this. Return from where you came. You have no business being here.” Nikolai muttered, his eyes darkening and his grip on Ophelia loosening slightly.
“Nikolai…” Ophelia whispered, drawing his gaze to hers. “This is not
something we can handle on our own any longer.”
“Even if we need help, I won’t accept the help of a god.” Shutting his eyes, Nikolai growled.
Rhaziel let out a heavy sigh. It was unsurprising that Nikolai detested deities. They were all against him, after all.
Valerian was aware of this as well, but how could he convince Nikolai that there was a good explanation for that? A reason behind the dictation of his fate. It was the same for the golden dragon cradled in his arms. They had broken the order by protecting each other.
Lifting her hand, Ophelia traced her fingers lightly across Nikolai’s cheek, stopping at his chin.

His scarlet eyes opened and swirled like a living bloodstorm. They possessed a captivating beauty.
“Nik… Do you wish to have the pearl rule over you once again?” Ophelia asked abruptly, her soft questioning tone only shocking Nikolai.
Those eyes quivered and widened.
Valerian, who was witnessing this, was equally surprised. But Rhaziel tightened his jaw and threw a fierce look at Nikolai.
“How do you…”
“This is not what you expected to happen… Unbreakable control.” Whispering, with tears welling up in her eyes, Ophelia sensed his hold on her weakening even further.
“I…” Nikolai wanted to speak again.
