196 Why is this happening?!

In the castle’s main sitting room, Ophelia materialized, sobbing and punching the ground with her fists. She was very perplexed and frustrated by what was happening to her! First she was cursed and now, her husband was…!!! She let out a cry and glared at Pain, who was sitting on the cushion and staring at her glumly.

“Is he expecting me to accept this?” Snarling, she got up and stormed out of the room.

Pain leaped off the cushion and chased after her. She had to stop walking when he caught up to her and stood in front of her.

“What are you doing?” She asked, her eyes dilating in confusion.

Pain stretched his magnificent wings, which were striped with fiery red, and yawned.

Ophelia’s eyes widened with amazement, but then she scowled as she thought about her present situation. She had no time to admire a beautiful guardian beast. “Pain, I have to leave.” She said in drewling tone, walking around him and began running.

Either way, the guardian beast raced to catch up with her. Ophelia quickly found herself in front of the chamber door, pushing it open to discover the room was empty. Hastily opening the secret room, she entered to discover it was likewise deserted.

“Nikolai!” Furious, she let out a scream and bolted from the secret room.

Taking a deep breath, she clenched her fist and entered the bathing room, only to discover that Nikolai was not there either.

Was this her curse? To be ignored and threatened by her husband?!!

Pain was sitting in front of the bed, staring at her angrily when she stormed out of the bathing room.

“Pain?” Ophelia halted her steps. Why was he going after her and not Nikolai? She approached him, standing on her heels and petting his fur. “Why are you staring at me with such anger? The only person who should be upset in this situation is me.”

Her heart was aching terribly. Being the Alpha King, Nikolai could not simply disappear from this castle. Was he trying to avoid her?

Pain closed his eyes and purred as he enjoyed Ophelia’s strokes.

“Can perhaps tell or show me what is happening?” She asked, standing up straight. “Come. Let’s find Nikolai.”

And she walked out of the chamber with him trailing behind.

As she continued down the hall, she was surprised to find Rhaziel pacing at the end of the hallway, which led to a different area with multiple chambers. She rushed towards him and he stopped, noticing her

presence.

Her dagger appeared in her grip and she pointed at his face, staring at him furiously. “Tell me what in hell is going on?!”

“Nikolai’s schemes.” Rhaziel muttered, his eyes drooping a bit.

“What do you mean by that?! He shoved me away, threatened, and declared his desire to destroy everything.”

Rhaziel’s eyes expanded. “What?!”

Ophelia dropped her arm, her eyes twitching with disbelief. Did Rhaziel not even realize what was happening?

He grimaced, putting his fingers in his hair, pausing as his eyes met the guardian beast’s intensely serious gaze. He tensed up, his eyes taking on

their thick, dark demon form.

The guardian beast tilted his head and Rhaziel’s lips twitched.

“Really?” He questioned, grabbing Ophelia’s enraged attention.

“Would you kindly explain the situation to me?” She asked, aiming her dagger once more at him.

“A war.” Rhaziel replied bluntly and looked at her.

His eyes made her frown deeply. “War?”

“You have to save Nikolai. I am going to step away from his side for the time being.” He abruptly stated.

“Huh?!” Asking in a bewildered manner, Ophelia turned to face Pain, who was now dozing off on the floor. Scoffing incredulously, she turned to face Rhaziel, who was still staring at her. “Rhaziel…”

“The blood pearl will take control of Nikolai on the night of the blood moon, which falls in two weeks. He will not present himself to you. You must endure and…”

“Wait.” Ophelia interrupted, laughing as though he was cracking jokes. “Are you really expecting me to sit here and watch my husband turn into a creature of needless destruction?”

Rhaziel sighed deeply and moved in closer, leaning in.

Ophelia gave him a deadly glare. “What exactly are you doing?”

“You have Nikolai’s trust. Remember that. He loves you.” The demon murmured and watched as tears welled up in her eyes. “Save. Him.”

Ophelia shook her head. “What is happening?!”

Rhaziel forced a smile and took a big step away from her. “I will do my best,”

Ophelia parted her lips and lowered her gaze as he walked away. She collapsed on her knees, staying still for a while.

She chastised a large part of herself for believing everything could be normal. She was furious with herself for attempting to ignore the fact that there were shadows in every corner, against her, against everything!!

Tears streamed down her cheeks. She was carrying a heavy load. But she stood up and looked at Pain, who was still sleeping. He had a reason for being with her…

“Nikolai.” She exhaled, wiping her tears away with the back of her hand. “You are going to regret it. Asshole.”

“Ophelia” Esmeralda let out a scream in the other direction of the hallway.

Looking in that direction, Ophelia saw Esmeralda running toward her as if she had seen a ghost.

“Es…me.” She let out a feeble breath.
