192 I intend to annihilate fate
Even if she was overwhelmed with thoughts at Esmeralda’s response, Ophelia was relieved that Pain was with her to divert her thoughts. She gave him some meat to eat and caressed him till he dozed off on a big cushion next to her. The guardian beast enjoyed comfort. She smiled. Who didn’t? O
With a sigh, she got up and proceeded towards the door, when it suddenly pushed open, revealing Alina with Anastasia and Maria trailing behind. They didn’t seem overly startled, indicating that they were aware she was in the room. But she could tell by the looks on their faces that they weren’t at all at ease with her presence.
Courteously, she bowed her head and carefully made her way out of the room without making any further contact. Sadly, that wasn’t what they were going for. Maria stopped her dead in her tracks by grabbing her
wrist.
Ophelia felt her body stiffened. Why were they so intimidating? Her desire to depart stemmed only from Nikolai’s declaration that he desired
for her to maintain no contact with his mother.
“Your majesties,” She whispered as she looked at Maria’s hand around her wrist. “Isn’t this a little bit inappropriate?”
Maria smiled, a false smile that made Ophelia frown. “Impudent.” She hissed, releasing her wrist hesitantly.
“You are a dragon, regardless of whether you are married to Nikolai, my dear. You will never find acceptance.” Maria said, her fake smile becoming increasingly noticeable.
Ophelia nodded but remained silent. She started to walk away once more

when she abruptly encountered an imperceptible barrier that stopped her in her tracks. It was getting annoying that she was unable to leave. Maria made her think of her aunts. However, Anastasia Novikov’s handiwork was obviously responsible for this barrier.
Now she understood why Nikolai made it a point to keep her away from his family.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at Anastasia, who gave her a small smile. The mother of Vladmir and Sasha. Her displeasure was revealed through the smile on her face.
Ophelia turned away, breathing heavily. She had felt overly at ease because of Sasha, Vladmir, and Yulia’s kindness towards her. She nearly laughed at herself for forgetting that the Novikovs despised her.
“Is there a reason why you are doing this?” She asked politely.
“I believed you to be intelligent enough. Can you not see that it is not by coincidence that we are here?” Maria questioned, hate flaring in her eyes.
Ophelia pursed her lips. “If I get to speak with Lady Anastasia Novikov or you, it will be an honor to stay. Nevertheless, I am not permitted to be around Luna Alina.” She disclosed tensely.
Alina’s olive–green eyes opened at those words, but she let out a heavy sigh afterwards. “Nikolai…” With a little giggle, she faded off.
“Please let me pass.” Ophelia muttered, still being courteous.
“I am not a threat.” Alina whispered. “You can at least view me as the
oracle instead of Nikolai’s mother.”
Ophelia was intrigued by her statements. Was there a message the oracle wanted to convey to her? Was it about fate or the fact that she had been cursed by a fire god? Was that fact known by the oracle?

“I am sorry, your majesty, but I cannot do that. Although I don’t think you pose a threat, I’m sure Nikolai has a legitimate reason for preventing us from communicating.” Ophelia said, her voice stern, her gaze unwavering. She did not move because she was certain that Anastasia had not yet moved the barrier. Why were they banding against her?
Alina smiled at her words. “You see him as a saint, don’t you?”
Ophelia laughed at the irony. “I do not. Fortunately.”
Alina nodded. “We’re going to meet soon. Willingly.”
Ophelia balled her fists at those words.
While Maria continued to give her a hateful glare, Anastasia appeared taken aback by Alina’s remarks.
Ophelia, on the other hand, gave none of them a glance. Her piercing eyes were fixed on the hallway in front of her.
“You sound like you can see the future.” She growled with annoyance. She didn’t need to suppress her feelings any longer, nor did she need to make them the priority. “Are you going to speak to me about fate or how I should stay away from him?”
Alina stopped smiling.
“What are you…!” Maria grew enraged and slashed Ophelia with her claws. Unfortunately for her, Ophelia was quicker. She avoided it by taking a small step backwards and looked at Alina, who was gazing into the
chamber.
“Pay close attention to what I have to say. I intend to annihilate fate.”
Alina’s lips curled into a wide smile and a flash of silver appeared in her eyes. She remained silent and her expression went unnoticed.
Ophelia walked away, not surprised that the barrier had been lifted. She

frowned deeply and began walking towards the throne room without saying anything else. Every guard she walked past could sense the intense wrath seeping from her and couldn’t help but stare in shock.
Who did those lycans think they were? And Maria! She was so violent. She hated dragons so much! And Anastasia, it didn’t appear like a scheduled meeting, she had put up that barrier because she knew Alina was desperate to talk to her.
Ophelia’s scowl deepened. She wanted to express her fury to Nikolai right then and there. Whether or if he was busy did not concern her.
As she neared the entryway, she heard someone calling from behind.
“Your majesty.”
The voice sounded so familiar but it sent a twisted emotion into her soul.
