Valerian lurched away from the wall he was resting against and fixed his gaze on the couple, who were still in the dark about what was going on.
However, Rhaziel rushed into the room, grabbed the seer, who was still unconscious, and pulled him out.
As soon as he turned to face Nikolai and Ophelia, the mist obscured his vision, blasting him, Valerian, and Vladimir, who was resting on his shoulder, all the way to the very end of the corridor. Notwithstanding the mist’s strong impact, they landed softly on their feet, with Rhaziel safely holding Vladimir.
Gazing at the location where Nikolai and Ophelia stood, he observed with a hint of sadness as the mist enveloped the two, obfuscating them from sight.
“Asshole.” He hissed with displeasure, clenching his fist until blood poured
out.
Valerian gave him an intense glance. “You were unaware that was his plan?”
“Just because I raised him does not mean I understand what is going through his head. I detest the manner in which he shields others.” He growled furiously.
Valerian nodded, his shoulders heaving. His master was too preoccupied protecting the others and him. Too preoccupied to protect himself.
“He forgets about himself all the time.” His lips curled into a tiny smile as
he muttered.
Rhaziel scowled sharply. “It still resides in him, the guilt of not being able

to protect the sun goddess.”
Valerian chuckled. “Master is more ferocious as a mortal. He is strong enough to blast a god so powerfully.”
Rhaziel clenched his jaw and turned to face the unconscious seer. Was he aware of the gateway? “It is impossible to predict when that witch will use her power.”
Valerian’s expression became grave. “The next unstable blood moon. It is in two weeks.”
Much troubled by that news, Rhaziel bowed his head. “Nikolai’s birthday is also in two weeks time.”
Valerian was taken aback. “How certain are you that it will occur on that specific day?”
“I would rather not be certain. I hope not.” Muttering under his breath, Rhaziel lifted Vladimir onto his back. He did not want the same things to happen again!
Glancing at Rhaziel, Valerian smiled. “When are you going to tell him?”
“There’s no need. This is his incarnation.” Rhaziel mumbled and let out a long breath.
“However, you gave him your blood and preserved his life. He did not die with demon blood in his system, unlike most beings who would. It is because you are still connected to him.” Valerian approached the wall and touched the cracks with his fingers. Yes, it is his incarnation.
Nevertheless, it is him.”
Rhaziel stayed silent. There was nothing to say. He… He didn’t want to say anything.

Nikolai, still holding Ophelia in his arms, materialized in the secret room, fell to his knees, and slowly released her.
Grasping him firmly, Ophelia dropped to her knees.
They were still surrounded by swirling mist. It was growing progressively darker and more intense, warning her that he was not going to calm down.
Her heart was skipping a beat at the same volume as she could hear his heart pounding so hard.
“Calm down.” Ophelia whispered, soothingly, patting his back gently.
He let out a deep hiss, and she felt his face sink into the nape of her neck.
“Nikolai, please stop.” In an attempt to soothe him, she tried again, patting his back gently and moving her fingers slowly along the back of his neck.
Nikolai remained silent. His scorching breath was piercing her neck, precisely where the mate mark was. Her breath caught at that.
“Nikolai,” she crooned, pausing in her pats as the mist continued to grow darker.
“You must be mistaken.” Nikolai suddenly uttered. But there was
something so sinister, so dark, so menacing, and so deep in his voice. She felt her body quiver against him because of how grave… He was.
He felt her trembles and his mist only became even more fierce.
“I have no intention of protecting you or anyone else.” She gave a sharp gasp as Nikolai hissed and violently grabbed her shoulders.
Ophelia felt cold. Terribly cold. What was going on? Was she having a nightmare?
“My intention is to take control and destroy everything, everything,

everything.” He continued, peeling her away from his body.
Ophelia stared at his face, tears welling up in her eyes and her body quivering. Those eyes were filled with darkness and great insanity. She was so afraid of it that she began to think she might really be having a nightmare.
“Avoid me at all costs, or I will drive my claws into your chest and rip your heart out.”
Ophelia parted her lips. Nothing came out. Her husband would never say something like that to her. This was not…. No it was him.
“What do you mean by that?” She questioned, doing her best to keep her voice from trembling.
“Do you not hear me?” Nikolai asked, cocking his head to the side. He released her shoulders and rose to his feet, staring down like her like a beast. “Get out of my sight.”
And his mist wrapped around her, swirling around her.
“N… No! What are you doing?!” Ophelia screamed, her eyes morphed into their golden reptile–like form. She tried to stand up but she couldn’t. The
mist!
