228 I’m sorry
In Sasha’s chamber, Sasha was deeply engrossed in searching for a potent spell to reinforce the portal she aimed to conjure, hoping to track down Dominik Smirnov. Meanwhile, Ophelia stood by the window, looking out at the heavy rain.
A flicker of concern crossed her face. She had slipped away from Nikolai’s side while he was still fast asleep. The fact that he hadn’t stirred to search for her, despite the stormy weather, revealed that he was asleep.
“Tiana Novikov,” she muttered, her fingers twirling through her hair.
She looked at Esmeralda with concern. “Danil seems familiar with her, and I
have a terrible feeling. I don’t like it one bit.”
Esmeralda placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Let’s focus on finding the moonstone from Dominik. That’s our priority.”
But Ophelia shook her head. “I want to find Tiana myself. You and Esme should focus on getting the stone.”
Sasha looked up from the spell book she was scrolling through, her brow furrowed. “I don’t think we can find Tiana without using magic,” she muttered, turning her attention back to the book.
“Vladimir can help me,” Ophelia said, already heading for the door. But Esmeralda swiftly moved to block her path.
“Lia, there’s no guarantee Tiana will even show herself to you,” she reasoned, her hands gently grasping Ophelia’s. “We have a solid lead with the moonstone. Let’s focus on that.”
Ophelia hesitated, but Esmeralda’s reassuring touch and words calmed her concerns. Just then, Sasha’s excited cry filled the room.

“I found it!” She exclaimed, slamming the book shut and leaping to her feet. A bright green glow began to emanate from her fingertips, and she closed her eyes, savoring the moment.
Ophelia and Esmeralda watched in awe as Sasha’s body became engulfed with the bright green glow, the room’s temperature plummeting further.
A chilling wind swept around them, but as suddenly as it began, the glow vanished, the wind ceased, and the temperature returned to normal.
Sasha opened her eyes, taking a deep breath as her eyes transformed into their glowing green, wolf–like form.
“I found him,” she panted, her chest heaving.
Ophelia and Esmeralda exhaled deeply in relief, their tension easing.
“Where is he?” Ophelia asked, her hands trembling with anticipation.
Sasha rubbed the back of her neck, her voice tense. “He’s here in Celestia, in
the city.”
Without hesitation, Esmeralda urged, “Let’s go.”
“I’ll find him myself,” Ophelia declared, her eyes flashing into their golden reptilian form. Sternly, she strode to the window, flung it open, and leapt out into the night. As she plummeted towards the ground, a burst of golden fire engulfed her body, and two magnificent golden wings unfolded from her back. With a powerful beat, she soared into the stormy sky, disappearing into the dark angry clouds.
Esmeralda rushed to the window, screaming. “Ophelia!” as she watched her friend vanish into the clouds. She couldn’t believe that Ophelia would just
leave alone.
“What is she thinking?!” She snapped, her brow furrowed in concern, her
fist clenched in frustration.

Sasha facepalmed, exasperated. “Let’s go,” she said, grasping Esmeralda’s wrist, and in an instant, they both disappeared from the chamber, leaving behind a faint, lingering green glow.
Nikolai slowly opened his eyes, reaching out to touch his wife, but his hand met only a cold, empty bed. He jerked his head towards the spot, his eyes widening in shock, and then sprang out of bed, looking around frantically.
“FireStorm?” he called out, his ears catching the sound of pouring rain.
“Is that a rainstorm? FireStorm, there’s a rainstorm!” he exclaimed, stunned
and excited.
He walked towards the curtains, pulled them open, and flung open the window. A small smile spread across his face as he looked out at the rain.
“The eternal winter is finally over,” he said, seemingly pleased. “Though it doesn’t seem like the ice dragon is dead. Too bad. I would have attended the burial ceremony.”
With that, he turned away from the door and headed towards the bathing room, his thoughts already moving on back to his wife.
He called out again, “FireStorm!” expecting to see her in the bathing pool, but she was nowhere to be found. His smile faltered, and his eyes darkened with concern. “What’s going on?”
He quickly changed into a fresh pair of clothes and exited the chamber, his mind racing with questions. “Where is she?” he asked Pain, who was walking behind him.
Pain had been with Rhaziel, but he had also been roaming around the castle, and might have seen Ophelia.
The tiger phoenix growled softly, and Nikolai halted, frowning deeply.
“What?”

But instead of responding, the Tiger Phoenix simply yawned, stretched, and walked past Nikolai, wagging his tail nonchalantly, as if unaware of his growing unease.
Nikolai warned, “Do not follow me in.” and his pace quickened as he
hastened away. With each step, fear intensified, pounding against his heart like a drumbeat.
In an instant, he vanished and reappeared in his mother’s chamber. The sudden stillness was oppressive, the cold air heavy with the stench of blood.
Nikolai’s eyes, normally warm and olive green, flashed with fear as he took hesitant steps forward.
