The Lycan's Forbidden Mate novel Chapter 230

230 I am your mate, not him!

Ophelia soared through the grim, rainsoaked clouds, her wings beating powerfully as she made her way to the storage tower. The lone, towering structure stood in the midst of a snowcovered field, the snow rapidly melting and merging with the harsh rain.

With a resounding thud, Ophelia landed within the compound, her eyes scanning the surroundings with distaste. The afea was littered with the lifeless bodies of guards. A sad sight.

Transforming back into her human form, Ophelia stood tall, her soaked clothing clinging to her body. Her eyes narrowed as she took in the parted doors of the storage tower, tight knots settling in the pit of her stomach.

This was the very place where she, Nikolai, and Rhaziel had discovered the moonstone alongside Esmeralda.

A soft smile played on her lips as memories of her early days with Nikolai flooded her mind. But the nostalgia was shortlived, as a sharp pain shot through her chest, sending her crashing to her knees.

Nikolai, she gasped, her fingers digging into the wet earth as she struggled to catch her breath. The pain was intense, but fleeting, leaving her with more questions than answers.

Slowly, she rose to her feet, pressing a hand to her chest as if to still the ache within. Steeling herself, she stepped into the storage tower, her eyes adjusting to the dim light, within.

As she found her way through the hallway, the soft glow of fire torches illuminated her path, leading her to a vast chamber filled with shelves that stretched all the way to the ceiling. The shelves were laden with rare and precious treasures, each one more breathtaking than the last.

Ophelia’s fists clenched, her chest heaving with each ragged breath. Dominik, I know you’re in here! Come out!she demanded, her voice echoing off the chamber walls.

A deep, menacing chuckle erupted from behind her, sending a shiver down her spine. Ophelia spun around, her eyes locking onto Dominik’s smirking form.

Well, well, well, you are a sight for sore eyes, princess,Dominik drawled, his eyes roaming over her body like a predator sizing up its prey.

Ophelia’s eyes rolled in exasperation. I’m here for the moonstone.”

Dominik’s smirk deepened. Oh? But the stone is useless to us dragons.

Ophelia’s brow arched in anger. Then why is it in your hands?

Dominik took a deliberate step closer, his movements elegant and calculated. Ophelia retreated hastily, her eyes flashing with warning.

Stay away,” she hissed, her voice low and grave. I’m here for the stone and nothing else.

Dominik’s eyes flashed with frustration as he halted his approach. You know who I am, right?

Ophelia’s breath was steady. I do.”

Dominik’s jaw clenched. I became general not only to please my family or my lineage as a red dragon, but because your father promised me your hand in marriage. You were supposed to marry me after your mission to kill Alpha Nikolai.

Ophelia’s eyes widened in shock. What?

She had never suspected that her father had promised her hand to Dominik. To her, Dominik was just one of the most skilled warriors in Fireria, a frequent visitor to the castle due to the allegiance between the red and

golden dragons. Their interactions had been limited, and she had never sensed any romantic interest from him until their encounter in Sidus.

Ophelia took a deep breath, her voice measured. Look, I understand. You served my father and my uncle, and they deceived you. But I don’t care about that. I just want the stone. Please, give it to me.”

Dominik’s jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with anger. Are you angry because I couldn’t save you from the experiments?he growled. I’m sorry. I didn’t know. Esteban sent me on a false mission to retrieve you from Celestia during that time.

Ophelia’s chest heaved with frustration. She ran her fingers through her wet hair, her eyes pleading. I understand. I understand, and I forgive you. For everything you’ve done. The war between our kind and the wolves has even come to an end, and I’m grateful. I just want the stone.

She walked towards Dominik, her hand outstretched in a pleading gesture. But Dominik shook his head, his eyes clouded with anger and betrayal, and took a step back.

I can’t believe this,he muttered to himself, his chest heaving with ragged breaths. That bastard king deceived me all this time. He’s been using me for his war. I was never going to have her!

Ophelia’s frustration boiled over, and she groaned in desperation. Please, just give me the stone! I need to help him! I’m begging you!

Dominik’s eyes snapped back to hers, widening in surprise. What? You

need the stone to save Nikolai?

Pl..please.Ophelia’s voice cracked as she sniffled, tears welling up in her eyes. She took another step closer to Dominik, her hand still outstretched.

Yes, please.”

Dominik stood frozen, his gaze darting between Ophelia’s outstretched

hand and her tearfilled eyes. He couldn’t believe the turn of events. The woman he had been promised, the woman he had risked everything for, was now begging him to help her save another man.

Dominik’s eyes clouded over, his mind consumed by memories of the past. He had fallen deeply in love with Ophelia from the moment he laid eyes on her as a child. She had been the star of his every dream, but those dreams always turned to nightmares when Nikolai appeared, stealing her away from him. And now, it seemed that nightmare had become a reality.

As he looked at Ophelia, he saw the desperation in her eyes, the tears she was fighting to hold back. It was all for Nikolai, the man who had taken her from him. Dominik’s heart twisted in anguish, but he knew what he had to do.

With a heavy sigh, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the

moonstone. The gem glimmered in the light, its beauty a complete opposite to the distress within him.

Ophelia’s eyes lit up with relief and gratitude. Thank you.

Her eyes sparkled with hope as she reached for the moonstone, but Dominik’s expression darkened, and he snatched his hand back, taking a step away from her. No.

Ophelia’s tearfilled eyes widened in shock. What?

Dominik’s sigh was heavy with defeat. He tucked the moonstone back into his pocket, his eyes never leaving Ophelia’s face. Do you know why I’m here, Your Highness? Why I have the stone?
