The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 103

Chapter One Hundred Three

Diana did not fight like a wolf who feared death.

She fought like a storm that refused to be contained.

The northern border of the Black Howler Pack had become a battlefield of chaos-earth torn apart, trees splintered, the metallic scent of blood thick in the air.

And at the center of it-

Diana moved like something both beautiful and terrifying.

She did not stay in one form.’

She refused to.

One moment-

Artemis.

Artemis lunged forward, silver fur streaking through the darkness, jaws snapping, claws tearing through flesh with brutal precision. Rogues scattered, struggling to track her speed, to anticipate her strikes.

They tried to defend-

Tried to surround-

But Artemis did not fight like a predictable beast.

She was calculated.

Deadly.

Then-

She was gone.

A flash of light-

A shift-

And Diana stood in human form.

Her katana gleamed under the dim light of the moon. Every time she shifts into Artemis, her katana falls to the ground-but it never hinders her. The moment she returns to human form, she seamlessly picks t up again, continuing the fight without missing a beat.

The rogues barely had time to adjust-

To change their stance-

To shift their approach-

Before she was already moving again

Steel sang through the air.

A clean arc-

A precise strike-

Another body fell.

Diana did not hesitate.

Did not pause.

Did not give them time to understand her rhythm.

Because she had none.

She broke every pattern.

Every expectation.

Wolf.

Human.

Claws.

Steel.

They had to fight two completely different opponents-

In the same body.

And she gave them no chance to adapt.

But still-

They kept coming.

Endless.

Relentless.

Another rogue lunged-

Artemis twisted mid-air, tearing into its throat before it could even land.

Diana shifted back-

Sword slicing through another’s chest before it could recover.

And still-

More.

“Where are they coming from?” Arternis growled inside their shared mind, her voice sharp with frustration.

“I don’t know,” Diana answered, breath steady despite the battle. “But they don’t stop.”

Another wave charged

Diana pivoted, blade flashing-

A rogue fell-

Then another-

Then another.

She had lost count.

Her muscles burned.

Her lungs pulled harder for air.

But she did not slow.

“Diana.”

The mindlink hit her mid-strike.

Talon.

“Talon, the rogues keep coming,” she replied instantly, cutting down another attacker. “How many are there? I lost count after fifteen.”

She shifted again-

Artemis crashing into another rogue, sending it flying.

“I’m coming to you,” Talon said, urgency bleeding through the bond. “The ones on the east border just pulled back.”

A beat.

“I think they moved toward your side.”

Diana’s eyes narrowed.

That didn’t feel right.

“How are your warriors holding?” Talon asked.

Diana scanned the field briefly-

Her warriors-

Still standing-

Still fighting-

But exhausted.

“They’re holding,” she said, though her tone tightened slightly. “But they’re wearing down.”

Another rogue lunged

She spun-

Blade cutting clean through.

“I need to focus, Talon,” she added quickly. “Get here fast.”

A pause.

“We won’t last long like this.”

She cut the link.

There was no time for anything else.

Across the forest-

Talon ran.

No-

He flew.

Fenrir surged beneath his skin, pushing harder, faster.

“Run faster,” Talon growled internally. “She needs us.

Through the bond-

He could feel her.

Her exhaustion.

Her strain.

Fifteen rogues down-

And more still coming.

Even for her-

Even for Artemis-

Numbers mattered.

“Enzo. Galvin,” Talon mindlinked sharply as he ran. “Status.”

A pause-

Then Enzo answered.

“Alpha… the rogues are retreating.”

Talon frowned mid-run.

“Retreating?”

“Yes,” Enzo confirmed. “They attacked-then suddenly pulled back.”

A second voice joined. (

“Same here,” Galvin said. “They just… left.”

Talon’s instincts flared.

That wasn’t random.

“Get to the north border,” he ordered immediately. “All of you.”

His voice hardened.

“They’re not retreating.”

“They’re redirecting.”

A beat.

“They’re going after Diana.”

The forest blurred as he pushed faster.

Inside-

Fenrir growled.

“This is not coincidence.”

Talon’s jaw clenched.

“No.”

Another leap-

Branches snapped beneath him.

“They’re targeting her.”

“But how?” Talon demanded. “Feral rogues don’t coordinate like this.”

“They don’t,” Fenrir agreed.

A pause.

“Which means someone is guiding them.”

The realization hit-

Gold.

Hard.

“This is deliberate, Fenrir continued, his voice dropping into something darker. “They want her.”

“They want our mate.”

Talon’s eyes burned.

“Then they’ll die trying.”

Moments later-

The sounds reached him.

Clashing.

Snarling.

Screams.

The battlefield.

He burst through the treeline-

And saw it.

Diana.

Surrounded.

Not overwhelmed-

Not yet-

But close.

Rogues closing in-

Wave after wave-

Focused.

Targeted.

Talon didn’t think.

He didn’t hesitate.

Fenrir took over.

A massive black wolf exploded forward-

And his howl tore through the battlefield.
