The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 113

Chapter One Hundred Thirteen

Claim

The ride to the pack hospital felt too slow. Too long. Too uncertain Inside the car, the tension was suffocating. Talon sat in the back seat, Diana cradled tightly in his arms, her body limp against his chest. One hand supported her back, the other pressed gently against her side-trying to slow the bleeding, trying to feel something… anything… that would tell him she was still fighting.

“Diana… come on,” he murmured, his voice rough, almost breaking. “Wake up, my love…”

There was no response. Not even the smallest movement. Not even a twitch. Panic tightened around his chest.

“Diana.”

Still nothing. Talon’s breathing grew uneven. His thumb brushed over her cheek, smearing a faint streak of dried blood.

“Can he drive faster?!” Talon suddenly snapped, his voice sharp and filled with barely contained desperation. In the front seat, Conall’s grip on the wheel tightened.

“I am already pushing the car to its limit, Alpha King,” he replied, trying to keep his voice steady despite the pressure. “Any faster and we risk crashing before we even get there.”

“Talon,” Willow said gently but firmly, turning slightly in her seat to look at him. “Conall is driving as fast as he can.”

Her eyes softened as she looked at Diana.

“Diana is strong,” she continued, her voice quieter now, more reassuring. “She will be okay.”

Talon shook his head slightly, his gaze never leaving Diana’s face.

“Then why isn’t she waking up?” he demanded, his voice dropping into something raw and vulnerable.

“I thought the injury wasn’t that severe,” he continued, frustration creeping into his tone. “She said she was okay and didn’t even stop when she got hurt. She just kept running.” His jaw clenched.

“If she had told me… His voice faltered slightly. “I would have carried her. I wouldn’t have let her push herself like this.”

A bitter breath escaped him.

“But she’s so damn hard-headed.”

Willow let out a soft sigh, though there was a faint hint of fondness in her expression.

“Talon… you know Diana,” she said. “She is a queen through and through.” A pause. “And not just a queen-

a warrior.”

Her gaze flickered briefly to Diana.

“She would rather bleed out than let anyone see her as weak.”

Talon’s arms tightened instinctively around Diana at that. Willow continued, her tone shifting slightly.

“What I don’t understarid is this…”

She looked at him more seriously now.

“Why were you out there alone?” A beat. “Why just the two of you?” Her brows furrowed. “Where is Enzo?”

That question made Talon finally look up.

For the first time since they got in the car, his focus shifted away from Diana-just for a second.

“We were the only ones who came,” he answered.

Willow blinked. “What do you mean?”

“We left everyone in the Royal Pack,” Talon continued, his voice regaining some of its steadiness, though the tension remained. “To protect it.”

Willow frowned.

“Protect it?” she repeated. “What happened?”

Talon hesitated. His jaw tightened again.

“There was an attack,” he said finally.

Willow’s eyes widened slightly.

“Rogues?”

“Feral rogues,” Talon confirmed.

A heavy silence filled the car.

“They came in waves,” he continued. “From all directions.”

His gaze darkened.

“But they weren’t random.”

Willow’s heart sank slightly.

“They were targeting…” she started.

“…Diana,” Talon finished.

Another silence.

“Heavy. Real.”

“And Enzo?” Willow asked again, her voice quieter now.

“He stayed behind,” Talon said. “With Galvin. To secure the pack. To make sure no second wave hits while we’re gone.”

Willow nodded slowly, absorbing everything.

Damon, who had been silent the entire time, finally spoke.

“We’re here.”

The car slowed-then stopped abruptly. The pack hospital stood ahead, already lit, already prepared. Before the engine even fully died, Talon was out of the car. He didn’t wait Didn’t look back. He moved like a man on the edge of losing everything. Diana still in his arms. The moment they stepped inside, chaos met them. Healers rushed forward immediately, clearly alerted ahead of time.

“Clear the way! Prepare a bed-now! Bring the antidotes-just in case!”

Voices overlapped. Fast. Efficient. Urgent. But Talon didn’t move. He didn’t let go.

“Alpha King,” one of the healers said carefully, approaching him. “We need to take her.”
