Chapter One Hundred Fifty Five
Clay
Willow and Damon returned to the suite that had been prepared for them shortly after the Elder Council reluctantly agreed to allow Rafe to be transferred to the Rogue Kingdom. Although the elders had expressed concern about transporting such a dangerous prisoner, even they could not deny that the Alpha King himself had granted Damon full authority over Rafe’s punishment. There was nothing more they could do except trust the Rogue King to keep him securely imprisoned.
The moment the suite door closed behind them, Damon turned toward Willow. For a second, neither of them spoke. The silence felt different from all the others they had shared over the past weeks. It wasn’t awkward. It wasn’t painful. It was filled with anticipation.
Hope. Before Willow could say a single word, Damon crossed the room in three long strides. His hands gently cupped her face. He looked into her eyes as though searching for permission.
When she didn’t move away… He leaned down and kissed her. A slow, tender kiss. Filled with every emotion Damon had struggled to put into words. His lips lingered against hers, savoring the moment as though he were afraid it might disappear if he moved too quickly. Willow kissed him back just as gently. When they finally pulled apart, Damon rested his forehead against hers. His breathing was uneven.
“So…” he whispered. “Did you really mean it?”
Willow blinked.
“Hm?”
His hands remained on her cheeks, almost as though he feared she might vanish if he let go.
“What you said.” His voice was quieter now.
“In front of the Elders. You really want us to have our marking and mating ceremony?”
His crimson eyes searched hers anxiously.
“You… you’re choosing to be with me?”
The hope in his voice nearly broke Willow’s heart. Inside their shared bond, she could feel Cerberus pacing restlessly.
Please… Please tell us she meant it. Please don’t let this be another dream. Please…
The mighty Rogue King’s wolf… Was praying. Praying to the Moon Goddess that Willow’s words had been genuine.
Willow couldn’t help smiling. Not the polite smile she often wore around the pack. This smile came from somewhere much deeper. It was filled with peace. Acceptance. Love. Hope.
For the first time since they had met… Willow smiled at Damon without hesitation. Without fear. Without resentment lingering in the background.
Damon stared at her in complete awe. He had never seen that smile before. It was beautiful. Beautiful enough to steal every coherent thought from his mind.

“Yes,” Willow answered softly. “I meant every word.”
Cerberus actually howled inside Damon’s mind.
She’s choosing us!
She’s choosing us!
Damon barely managed to keep himself from grinning like an-excited pup.
“As Diana keeps reminding me,” Willow continued with a small laugh, “we’re mates.”
She gently rested both hands over Damon’s.
“I’m your queen. And you’re my king.”
She looked around the quiet suite.
“Our pack needs us. Our wolves need us. But…”
She smiled again.
“More importantly… I want us.”
Damon’s breath caught. He had imagined hearing those words hundreds of times. Yet none of those imagined moments came close to the real thing.
Still… Something continued bothering him. His smile slowly faded.
“Willow…”
He shook his head.
“If you’re doing this because Diana convinced you…”
She immediately opened her mouth to protest. He gently stopped her.
“Please… Let me finish.”
She nodded.

“If you’re doing this because of what Diana said… Or because you think the Rogue Kingdom needs its King and Queen standing together… You don’t have to.”
His voice became firm.
“I can wait. As long as it takes. I hurt you.”
His eyes lowered briefly.
“I took away your choice.”
His expression filled with guilt.
“Yes… you carry my mark. But that wasn’t your decision. It was mine. You were unconscious. You were dying. I marked you because it was the only way to save your life.”

“When you woke up… I took your choice again. I brought you to the Rogue Kingdom. I never gave you the chance to decide.”
He shook his head again.
“I promised myself…”
His gaze returned to hers.
“…that I would never steal another choice from you.”
His voice became almost pleading.
“So if you’re saying yes because you feel obligated… Don’t. I’ll wait.”
He smiled sadly.
“A year. Ten years. A hundred years. If that’s what it takes… I’ll still be here. Cerberus and t… We’ll wait forever.”
Willow’s eyes filled with tears. Not from sadness. From love. This male… The one who had once ignored her. The one who had hurt her so deeply. Was now willing to wait forever… Simply because he wanted her choice to be truly hers.
Slowly, she reached up and placed both hands against his face.
“Damon.”
He immediately leaned into her touch.
“This…”
She smiled softly.
“…is my choice.”
He stared at her.
“You were right. You hurt me. You took away my choices.”
She didn’t deny any of it.
“But…”
She gently stroked his cheek with her thumb.
“You never stopped trying to make up for it.”
She could feel Cerberus listening just as carefully as Damon.

Every single day… You’ve shown me that my feelings matter. My opinions matter. My choices matter.”
She laughed quietly.
“Sometimes I think you worry more about making me happy than ruling your kingdom.”
Damon smiled sheepishly.
“That’s probably true.”

Willow laughed.
“The mate bond…”
She placed a hand over her heart.
“The bond I thought had died… The one I thought had been destroyed..”
She looked deeply into his eyes.
“You repaired it. Little by little. Day by day. You…”
She smiled warmly.
“And Cerberus…”
She could almost feel the wolf puffing his chest proudly.
“…showed both Winter and me that your love is real.”
“That your regret is real. That your devotion is real.”
A tear slipped down her cheek.
“You healed my heart, Damon.”
He closed his eyes briefly.
“I tried so hard…”
She laughed through her tears.
“So incredibly hard… To build walls between us. I told myself I’d never forgive you. I’d never trust you. I’d never fall for you.”
She shook her head.
“But every day… You climbed over those walls. You never gave up.”
She smiled brilliantly.
“And somewhere along the way… I fell.”
Damon completely froze.
“What?”

Willow’s cheeks turned pink.
“I’ve fallen for you.”
Ciem
Silence. Complete silence. Then Damon let out the deepest breath Willow had ever heard. One filled with relief. With gratitude. With overwhelming happiness. His shoulders visibly relaxed. Then… He laughed. Not because anything was funny. Because he couldn’t contain the joy bursting inside him. Without another word, he wrapped both arms around Willow and lifted her completely off the floor.
“Damon!”
She laughed.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m celebrating.”
He spun her around once. Twice. Three times. She laughed even harder.
“You’ll make us both dizzy!”
“I don’t care.”
He finally set her down before pulling her into another tight embrace.
“You have no idea…”
He whispered into her hair.
“…how long I’ve waited to hear those words.”
Willow rested comfortably against his chest.
“I think I do.”
They stayed like that for several quiet minutes. Neither of them wanting to break the moment. Eventually… Willow tilted her head up.
“Now…”
She narrowed her eyes playfully.
“Tell me something.”
“Hm?”
“Why are we bringing Rafe back to the Rogue Kingdom?”
Damon blinked.
