The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 159

Chapter One Hundred Fifty Nine

Talon gently guided Diana back into the chair she had just tried to stand from, keeping one steady hand around her waist until he was certain she was sitting comfortably. His worry had only grown since she nearly collapsed moments earlier.

For the past several minutes, he had done everything he could think of to convince her to go to the pack hospital.

He had reasoned with her. He had argued with her. He had practically begged her. He had even resorted to pleading. Every suggestion ended the same way. His Luna simply smiled at him and stubbornly refused.

“Diana, please,” Talon tried once more as he knelt beside her chair, taking both of her hands into his. “You almost fainted. That isn’t something we should ignore.”

“I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not.”

“I am.”

“You almost fell.”

“I didn’t.”

“You would have if I hadn’t caught you.”

She smiled sheepishly.

“But you did catch me.”

Talon let out a defeated sigh.

“You are impossible.”

“I’ve been told that before.”

Artemis chuckled inside Diana’s mind.

“I like him when he’s worried.”

“You like everything.”

“I do.”

Talon pinched the bridge of his nose.

“If I carried you to the hospital right now, would you be angry?”

“Very.”

“If I ordered you?”

“You can certainly try.”

Fenrir laughed loudly inside Talon’s mind.

“I told you. You’ll never win.”

Talon inwardly groaned.

“I know. She’s worse than Father. And Mother. And somehow she’s mated to us.”

Cam

Despite his worry, Talon couldn’t help smiling. His mate truly was impossible to command. The moment they received Enzo’s mind link informing them that Ravenna had arrived at the border, Diana had immediately insisted on meeting her. No discussion. No compromise.

She wanted to greet the white witch personally. Not only because Ravenna had saved both their lives… But because Diana believed Ravenna hadn’t come all this way without reason.

“There has to be something important,” Diana had insisted.

“She wouldn’t travel all the way here just to visit. And…”

She had looked thoughtfully toward the window.

“I think she knows something. About Thorne.”

About the endless attacks. About why none of it made sense.

Now they remained inside Talon’s office, waiting for their unexpected guest to arrive. Outside, warriors continued their patrols while Royal Guards quietly secured the surrounding hallways. No chances were being taken. Not while Thorne remained somewhere beyond Black Howler’s borders.

Talon looked back toward Diana. She was smiling. But he noticed the slight paleness still lingering on her face. He didn’t like it. Not one bit.

“Diana.”

She looked up.

“I still think we should go to the hospital.”

She sighed.

“Talon… No.”

He squeezed her hand gently.

“Your health is more important than any unexpected visitor.”

She reached over and placed her free hand over his.

“Don’t say that.”

Her voice was soft but firm.

“Ravenna helped us.”

She looked him directly in the eyes.

When Thorne attacked us… When we were completely outmatched… When she had every reason to stay Tiidden… She chose to save us.”

Her expression softened

“She didn’t know us. She owed us nothing. And yet she risked everything

Diana smiled warmly.

“We owe her our lives. The very least we can do.. is welcome her properly into our home.”

Talon remained silent. He couldn’t argue with that. Because she was right. Without Ravenna… Neither of them might still be alive.

“And besides,” Diana continued, “for her to come here herself…”

She looked thoughtful.

“…it has to be important. I don’t believe she’s here for a friendly visit.”

“Neither do I.”

Talon finally nodded.

“I just wish you weren’t feeling unwell while meeting her.”

“I’m only tired.”

“You almost fainted.”

“As you said… almost.”

Before Talon could continue arguing, three firm knocks echoed against the office door. Both Alpha and Luna looked toward it.

“Enter,” Talon called.

The door slowly opened. Enzo stepped inside first. As always, the Royal Beta stood perfectly composed, though Talon immediately noticed something unusual. Enzo looked… Curious. Respectful. Perhaps even cautious. A moment later, another figure entered behind him.

Ravenna.

She looked exactly as Diana remembered. Long dark hair flowed freely down her back. Her eyes carried both wisdom and sadness.

She wore the same simple white robes, untouched by jewels or symbols of power. Despite her gentle appearance… The magical aura surrounding her remained immense. Ancient. Pure. Peaceful.

It contrasted so sharply with Thorne’s dark magic that merely feeling it eased the tension inside the room.

Fenrir quietly observed her.

“I still don’t understand why she chose to help us.”

Maybe today we’ll finally learn.”

Ravenna stopped several feet from Talon and Diana before inclining her head respectfully.

“Alpha King. Luna Queen.

Talon rose to greet her. Diana made a small movement as though intending to stand as well. Talon immediately placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him. He gave her a warning look. She sighed dramatically before settling back into the chair.

Fenrir laughed.

“I told you. You can’t win.”

“But apparently… Our mate can lose a battle too.”

Diana rolled her eyes.

“Only this one.”

She looked back toward Ravenna. A genuine smile spread across her face.

“Ravenna. It’s been a while.” There was warmth in her voice. Almost as though she were greeting an old friend instead of someone she had only met once. Ravenna smiled gently in return.

“It has.”

Diana gestured apologetically toward the chair.

“Please forgive me for not standing to welcome you.”

She smiled sheepishly.

“I’m feeling a little under the weather. This…”

She glanced teasingly toward Talon.

“…is the compromise my Alpha insisted upon.”

Talon cleared his throat.

“I insisted because you nearly fainted.”

Diana ignored him.

Ravenna’s smile faded slightly.

“You are unwell?”

There was genuine concern in her voice. Diana quickly shook her head.

“Nothing serious. I’m simply tired. A great many sleepless nights.”

She laughed softly.

“Our guests have been rather persistent lately.”

Ravenna understood immediately.

“The feral rogues.”

Diana nodded.

“They’ve kept us busy.”

Trying to lighten the mood, Diana gestured toward Enzo.

“I’m not sure the two of you have met. This is Enzo, Our Beta.”

She smiled proudly.

“The wolf responsible for keeping my stubborn Alpha from working himself to death.”

Enzo coughed awkwardly.

“I try?”

Diana laughed.

‘And Enzo…”

She looked toward Ravenna.

“This is Ravenna. The White Witch who saved both Talon and me when Thorne attacked us during our journey to the Rogue Kingdom.”

Enzo inclined his head respectfully.

‘It is an honor.”

Ravenna returned the gesture.

“The honor is mine, Beta.”

Once everyone had settled, Talon’s expression became serious again.

“Ravenna.”

She looked toward him.

“I hope you’ll forgive my directness.”

He folded his hands together.

“But I never truly expected we’d meet again.”

His deep blue eyes carefully studied her.

“And now… You’ve come to our pack. While Thorne has been attacking us almost every night.”

He paused.

“I find the timing difficult to ignore.”

His voice lowered.

“So… What do we owe this visit?”

Ravenna looked between Talon and Diana. The sadness that always lingered inside her eyes deepened.

“That…”

She answered quietly.

“…is precisely why I came.”

Silence settled over the office.

“I came to warn you.”

Neither Talon nor Diana interrupted.

“Thorne…”

She lowered her gaze.

*…has only just begun. The attacks you’ve seen… They are merely the beginning.”

Her voice became heavy.

“He will not stop. He cannot stop. Not until he believes his revenge has finally been fulfilled.”

Talon frowned.

“Revenge?”
