The Silver Wolf (Diana and Talon) novel Chapter 201

Chapter Two Hundred One

Talon and Diana retumed to their Alpha suite after leaving the pack hospital, but the moment the door closed behind them, Diana realized something very quickly,

Talon had no intention of allowing her to do anything by herself. Not walk across the room. Not pour herself a glass of water.

Not pick up a book from the table. Not even adjust the curtains without him immediately asking what she

needed.

At first, Diana tolerated it. She understood where it was coming from. They had only just learned that she was carrying not one pup, but two. Two tiny lives. Two little pieces of them growing inside her.

And after everything Ravenna had revealed about the danger surrounding a pregnant Silver Wolf, Diana could understand why Talon’s protective instincts had increased tenfold.

But understanding it and tolerating it were two entirely different things. Especially when Talon followed her from one side of the suite to the other as if she might somehow disappear if he took his eyes off her.

Diana walked toward the small sitting area. Talon followed. She sat down. Talon immediately adjusted the cushion behind her back.

Diana looked at him. He smiled innocently. She ignored him. She reached toward the table for the glass of water sitting there.

Talon picked it up first and handed it to her. Diana stared at the glass. Then at him.

“Talon.”

“Yes, my love?”

“I am capable of picking up water.”

“I know.”

“Then why did you pick it up for me?”

“Because I was closer.”

“You were not.”

Talon looked toward the table as if measuring the exact distance. Fenrir immediately spoke inside his mind.

“We were closer.”

“No, we were not.”

“We moved faster. That makes us closer.”

Talon almost laughed. Diana took the glass. She drank slowly while watching him over the rim. He stayed standing beside her.

Watching. Waiting. Hovering. When she finished, she placed the glass down. Talon immediately reached Tor it.

Diana slapped his hand away.

“No.”

Talon blinked.

“What?”

“I can put down my own glass.”

“You already did.”

“Exactly.”

Diana leaned back against the couch. For perhaps thirty seconds, there was silence. Then Talon asked-

“Are you comfortable?”

Diana closed her eyes.

“Yes.”

“Do you need another pillow?”

“No.”

“Food?”

“No.”

“Tea?”

“No.”

“Are you tired?”

“Talon.”

“What?”

She slowly opened her eyes.

“My love.”

That tone made him wary.

“Yes?”

“Your incessant hovering is starting to stress me.”

Talon stared at her.

“I am not hovering.”

Chapter Tenaced One

You followed me from the bedroom to the sitting room.”

“That is walking.”

“You took my water from a table two feet away.”

“I was helping.”

“You adjusted three pillows I did not ask you to touch.”

“They looked uncomfortable.”

“They are pillows.”

“They can still be uncomfortable.”

Diana stared at him. Talon finally sighed.

“What do you want me to do?”

“Call the Rogue Kingdom.”

He frowned.

“What?”

“Call Willow.”

Diana gestured toward the communication device on the table.

“Give her the good news.”

Talon’s expression immediately changed. Excitement appeared. Then caution.

“I thought you did not want anyone else to know about the pups yet.”

Diana softened.

“I do not want the entire pack to know yet.”

She placed one hand over her stomach.

“I still want this moment to belong to us for a little while.”

Then she looked at him.

“But Willow is family.”

Talon nodded slowly.

“And Mother and Father are there.”

“Yes.”

Clem

Selene and Rowan had traveled to the Rogue Kingdom several days earlier to help Willow prepare for her mating and marking ceremony with Damon.

Selene, in particular, had practically taken over the preparations the moment Willow asked for her help.

Diana smiled slightly.

“Can you imagine your mother’s reaction when she finds out she is getting two grandpups?”

Talon’s lips twitched.

“She will probably start buying things before we even finish telling her.”

“Exactly.”

“And Father will pretend to be calm.”

“But he will not be.”

“No.”

Talon laughed softly.

“He will tell everyone he always knew we would have strong pups.”

Diana smiled. Then her expression became more serious.

“And while you are talking to them, ask when they plan to return.”

Talon’s amusement disappeared. He knew immediately where her thoughts had gone.

“Because of Thorne.”

“Yes.”

Diana shifted slightly.

“We cannot pretend nothing has changed.”

Her hand moved over her stomach again.

“If Ravenna is right…”

She looked directly at Talon.

“…then Thorne may already know.”

Talon’s jaw tightened.

“He may be able to sense the new bloodline.”

“Exactly.”

“And if he can…”

Diana’s voice became firmer.

“…then he knows I am vulnerable.”

Chapter Two naled One

Claim

Talon hated the word. Vulnerable. He hated hearing it connected to Diana. His mate had always been one of the strongest Wolves he knew. A warrior who could defeat trained fighters in her human form. A Silver Wolf capable of surviving poison and fighting feral rogues by the dozens. But now her strength was divided. Artemis was protecting two pups. Two. Which meant Diana’s healing, stamina, and resistance were all reduced.

Thorne would exploit that. Diana continued..

“We need everyone here. Your parents. Willow. Damon. Conall if necessary. Every ally willing to fight.”

Talon frowned.

“You want Willow to return before her ceremony?”

“I want us to ask.”

Diana clarified immediately.

“I am not saying she has to abandon everything. But Black Howler may need every strong wolf we have.”

She looked toward the window.

“If Thorne is waiting for the right moment…”

Her eyes narrowed.

“…this is it.”

Talon crossed his arms.

“So we are back to reality already.”

Diana looked at him. He gave her a sad smile.

“We barely had a few hours.”

Her heart softened. He walked toward her and sat beside her

“I wanted one day”

His voice was quieter now.

“One day where we could simply be happy about this.”

He placed his hand over hers.

“No Thorne. No feral rogues. No curse. No prophecy. Just us.”

Diana leaned against him.
