Chapter Two Hundred Three
Talon closed his eyes. Her words settled inside him. Not when you are beside me.
Fenrir went quiet. Then slowly-
“We stay beside mate.”
Talon sighed inwardly.
“Yes.”
“We never leave her.”
“Never.”
“We kill anything that gets close.”
“Within reason.”
Fenrir ignored the qualification. Talon opened his eyes. Diana was still watching him. Waiting. Not demanding agreement.
Simply asking him to trust her. He lowered his forehead against hers.
“I hate this plan.”
Diana smiled slightly.
“I know.”
“I hate the idea of you anywhere near Thorne.”
“I know.”
“I hate the idea of him even knowing you are carrying our pups.”
“I know.”
“And I absolutely hate the word bait.”
Diana laughed softly.
“Then we will call it something else.”
“What?”
She thought for a moment.
“Strategic temptation.”
Talon stared at her.
“That is worse.”

She laughed. He tried not to smile. Failed. Diana wrapped her arms around his waist.
“We will not rush into anything.”
Talon immediately became serious.
“You promise?”
“Yes.”
“We plan first.”
“Yes.”
“Ravenna helps.”
“Yes.”
“Enzo and Galvin are involved.”
“Yes.”
“The Royal Guards surround you.”
“Talon.”
“That part is not negotiable.”
Diana sighed.
“Fine.”
“And if the healer says you are not healthy enough to fight…”
She narrowed her eyes.
“What?”
“You listen.”
Diana hesitated. Talon waited. Finally, she sighed.
“Fine.”
“Say it.”
“I will listen to the healer.”
Fenrir sounded relieved.
“Good.”
Artemis huffed.
“Fine.”

Talon smiled.
Then…”
He gently kissed Diana’s forehead.
“…I will call Willow.”
“And your parents.”
“Yes.”
“And Damon.”
Talon made a face. Diana laughed.
“Yes, Damon too.”
“He will be unbearable.”
“He is always unbearable.”
Talon looked toward the communication device.
“But if Thorne comes…”
His expression hardened.
“…we need the Rogue King.”
Diana nodded.
“That is the reality.”
Talon looked back at her. For one moment, the joy of their earlier discovery returned to his face.
“Before I call them…”
He placed both hands over her stomach again.
“Can we have one more minute?”
Diana’s expression softened.
“Just one?”
“Maybe ten.”
She laughed. Then covered his hands with hers.
“All right.”
They stood together in silence. Alpha King. Luna Queen. Fenrir. Artemis. And two tiny pups no one else knew about yet.
Beyond their windows, war was waiting. Thorne was somewhere in the darkness. The feral rogues were

gathering.
The Curse was moving toward its next battle. But inside their suite, Talon leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss against Diana’s stomach.
And for a few more precious moments- they allowed themselves to be nothing more than a mother and father who had just learned that their family was growing.
Talon barely waited for the call to connect before speaking.
“Damon, how are my sister and my parents?” he asked, his voice carrying a mixture of urgency and
concern.
On the other end of the line, Damon let out an exaggerated sigh.
“Hello to you too, Alpha King,” Damon replied dryly. “Not even a greeting? No, ‘How are you, Damon?’ I’m beginning to think you only call me when you need something.”
Despite the tension weighing heavily on him, Talon allowed himself a small smile.
“I’ll ask about you next time.”
“You’d better,” Damon muttered before chuckling. “As for your question, your sister is doing well. Better than well, actually. My queen has completely taken over the preparations for our mating and marking ceremony.”
Talon could almost picture Willow excitedly running around the palace, directing everyone while Selene fussed over every detail.
“And my parents?” Talon asked.
“They’re both here helping,” Damon answered. “Selene insists that every flower, every decoration, and every guest be perfect. Former Alpha King Rowan has accepted his fate and is carrying whatever she tells him to carry.”
Talon laughed softly.
“That sounds like my mother.”
“It definitely is. Rowan looks like he’d rather face a hundred rogue warriors than argue with his mate.”
For a brief moment, Talon forgot about the dangers surrounding his pack. Hearing that his family was happy brought him some peace.
“I was hoping to speak with them,” Talon admitted. “I have news I wanted to share.”
“Oh?” Damon asked, immediately intrigued. “Good news, judging from your voice.”
“It is.”
Damon smirked.
“Does this have anything to do with Diana?”

Talon instinctively glanced toward the bedroom where Diana was resting. His expression softened.
Yes.
Damon’s grin widened even though Talon couldn’t see it.
“I knew it.”
“I’ll let them hear it from me later,” Talon said. “For now, something more important has come up.”
The amusement in Damon’s voice disappeared instantly.
“I’m listening.”
Talon straightened in his chair.
“I need to ask the Rogue King to honor the alliance between our kingdoms.”
Damon didn’t interrupt.
“We may need your help.”
“What happened?”
“We’re preparing for war.”
Talon’s voice became grim.

“The feral rogues have become increasingly active around our borders. Our scouts have reported several sightings, and we’re almost certain Thorne is behind it. Diana’s pregnancy makes her his primary target now. If Ravenna’s theory is correct, he can sense that she’s carrying the Silver Wolf’s heirs.”
Silence greeted his words. Talon continued.
“I don’t know when he’ll strike, but I know he will.”
Damon exhaled slowly.
“Alpha King…”
His tone was serious now.
“Even without our alliance, I wouldn’t hesitate to march my warriors to the Royal Pack.”
Talon nodded, appreciating the loyalty.
“I know.”
“You and Diana are family now.”
“My warriors would gladly fight beside yours. But…”
