Chapter Ninety Six

Damon didn’t answer her

He couldn’t.

Because there was nothing he could say that would undo the truth in her words.

The moment stretched-

Heavy.

Uncomfortable.

Then Willow turned away first.

“We need to get them inside,” she said, her voice shifting back to something practical-controlled.

Damon blinked once-

Then nodded.

“You’re right.”

He turned toward the guards.

“Get another vehicle ready. Now.”

His tone snapped back into command-

Sharp.

Unquestionable.

Then he looked at Conall.

“You stay.”

Conall stiffened.

“My king-”

“You stay,” Damon repeated, firmer this time.

He glanced briefly at Kira’s aunt and uncle-Nera and Carl-who were barely standing.

“They need someone to stay with them right now.”

A pause.

“And you need to learn patience. Your mate needs time. We need to know what happened to them. And right now, Willow is the only one who can get answer. Kira looks like she trust her.”

Conall exhaled slowly-

Then nodded.

“Yes… my king.”

His eyes flickered once toward Kira-

Softening-

Before he stepped back.

“I’ll wait with them.”

Damon didn’t respond.

Instead, he turned toward Willow.

“Let’s take them to the hospital.”

Willow was already helping Kira stand.

“Can you walk?”

Kira nodded weakly.

“I’ll… try.”

Blaze clung to her side, small fingers gripping her clothes tightly.

“It’s okay,” Willow murmured softly to him, crouching slightly to meet his eyes.

“You’re safe here.”

The boy didn’t answer-

But he didn’t pull away either.

That was enough.

Moments later, they were moving-

Quickly-

Toward the pack hospital.

At the Rogue Pack Hospital

The moment they entered, healers rushed forward.

“Clear a bed!”

“Get water-now!”

Kira was guided gently onto one of the beds.

Blaze stayed glued to her side until a healer crouched in front of him.

“You can stay right here,” she said softly.

He nodded.

Damon stood back-

Watching everything.

Willow didn’t.

She stayed close-

Hand on Kira’s shoulder.

“You’re safe,” she repeated quietly.

The healer began checking Kira.

Pulse.

Eyes.

Breathing.

Then Blaze.

After a few minutes, she turned to Damon and Willow.

“The child is fine.”

A small breath of relief passed through Willow.

“But the mother…” the healer continued.

Her expression turned serious.

“Severe dehydration.”

“Exhaustion.”

“Extreme fatigue.”

She glanced back at Kira.

“She’s been pushing herself far beyond her limits.”

Willow’s jaw tightened slightly.

“How long have you been running?”

Kira hesitated.

“…Almost two weeks.”

The room stilled.

Two weeks.

Damon’s gaze sharpened.

“From where?”

Kira swallowed.

“…Stone Claw Pack.”

Willow’s head snapped slightly.

“Stone Claw?”

Damon’s expression darkened.

“Alpha Charles’ pack.”

Kira nodded weakly.

“What happened?” Willow asked gently.

Kira closed her eyes for a moment-

As if gathering strength.

“Almost two weeks ago…”

Her voice trembled slightly.

“The Alpha… the Luna… and their daughter…”

She paused.

“They brought a new wolf into the pack. I do not know where they came from and where they met the new wolf.”

Damon and Willow exchanged a quick glance.

Kira continued.

“They took him straight to the pack hospital.”

Her grip on Blaze tightened unconsciously.

“I wasn’t supposed to be there…”

Her voice dropped.

“But I heard them talking.”

“Alpha’s daughter… and that wolf…”

A shaky breath.

“They said they were mates.”

Silence.

“They said… it would be beneficial for them to accept the bond.”

Damon’s eyes narrowed slightly,

Willow stayed very still.

Kira continued.

“The next day..”

“I saw him. He said he smelled my scent outside his room, eavesdropping.”

Her voice hardened slightly-

Fear turning into something else.

“And he saw me.”

A pause.

“And after that…”

Her fingers curled tighter.

“He wouldn’t leave me alone.”

“What do you mean?” Damon asked, his tone controlled,

“He started following me.”

“Watching me.”

“Then… questioning me.”

Her voice shook.

“Asking what I heard.”

Blaze pressed closer to her.

“And when I didn’t answer… because I did not know what to tell him. I did not hear anything other than they were mates. I left as soon as I could. I do not want anyone thinking I am snooping.”

Kira’s voice broke slightly.

“He started tormenting my family.”
