Tonight, Her Love Ended novel Chapter 12

She couldn't shake the nagging feeling that she had forgotten something important, but no matter how hard she racked her brain, she couldn't remember what it was.

Exhaustion finally dragged her under. Her eyelids grew too heavy to keep open, and she drifted into a restless sleep.

...

Early the next morning, when Samuel called her again to confirm, Nova had already arrived at the entrance of the tech expo.

The individuals invited to this exhibition were all highly esteemed figures in the industry. Having been off the radar for five years, Nova couldn't afford to take this lightly, which was why she arrived so early.

"Samuel..." Nova's grip on her phone trembled slightly. "Did you say the Professor wants to see me?"

Hearing this news brought a wave of both anxiety and bittersweet emotion crashing into her chest.

Samuel understood exactly why she was reacting this way.

Professor Mathew Sherwin was their mentor—a globally renowned academic. Nova was his final, most prized student.

Mathew had dedicated his entire life to aerospace engineering, completely forsaking the idea of a wife or children.

He practically viewed Nova as his own daughter. He had fully intended to pass down his legacy to her, bringing her along to build her network and introduce her to his elite connections.

But then, Nova had thrown it all away for love.

When the Professor learned that the brilliant student he had painstakingly groomed for years was abandoning a bright future to work as a lowly assistant at Forrester Group—all just to be near some man—it broke him. He had fallen so ill from the heartbreak that he was bedridden for a month, and he hadn't contacted Nova since.

Consumed by guilt, Nova hadn't dared to reach out to him either.

Samuel sighed. "Yes, it's true. The Professor hasn't given up on you yet. He wants to give you one last chance. Nova, it's good that you've finally woken up. Once the expo is over, come to the Regent's Spire. I've booked a private room there, and he will be joining us. You can't break everyone's hearts again this time, Nova. Otherwise, we really... we won't be able to keep defending you."

"I won't. I promise, I won't. I'm going to make the most of this chance." Nova choked back a sob, tears welling in her eyes.

But she refused to let them fall.

She was awake now. She would never be that foolish again.

Closing her eyes, she took a moment to steady her breathing before heading inside.

She completely missed the person standing a short distance away, secretly snapping a photo of her.

—"Guess who I just ran into?"

A stolen photo was sent into a small group chat on a messaging app.

The woman in the picture was bundled in a black puffer jacket, her figure and face looking bloated. Her eyes were red and swollen, a clear sign she had been crying.

If it wasn't Nova, who else could it be?

Kieran clicked his tongue in disgust.

"Tristan, this woman is honestly unbelievable. First, she skips work and quits. Then, she lies about having a miscarriage to get your attention. When throwing a tantrum and running away didn't work yesterday, she actually tracks you down here today while pregnant. She's desperately trying to make sure you don't forget she exists!"

Seeing Tristan beside him, Kieran couldn't hold back his complaints.

Tristan shot Kieran an icy, indifferent look, quietly reminding him, "Let's go."
