He Waited She Wilted (Ottilie and Yorath) novel Chapter 127

Hearing Yves moving to get out of bed upstairs, she quickly called out, "Don't come down! I'll go check!"

"Make sure you ask who it is before you open it," Yves replied.

Within seconds, the person outside lost their patience. The knocking escalated into violent pounding, then outright kicking.

Ottilie walked to the door and yelled, "Who is it?"

At the same time, she turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on her face to wake up.

"Open the door, Ottilie!"

It was James, her father, roaring with anger.

The moment Ottilie unlocked the door, her parents shoved past her, storming inside with fierce, hostile expressions.

"What do you think you're doing?"

James ignored her. "Get out here, Yves Walden!"

Yves had made it halfway down the stairs when he saw Ottilie's parents charging in like bulls. He greeted them politely. "Mr. Sewell, Mrs. Sewell, hello."

James sneered, his eyes locking onto Yves.

"You've got some nerve. No marriage, no engagement, no settlement, and you just snatch my daughter up to play house? Is this the kind of moral example a teacher sets? I'll beat you to death!"

James lunged up the stairs, swinging wildly at Yves.

Ottilie grabbed her father's sleeve, yanking him back. "Dad, stop! He's hurt and can't use the stairs. I'm just here helping him out. Stop making up stories."

James scoffed. "An unmarried girl staying at a man's house under the guise of 'taking care' of him? You think I don't know what dirty little tricks you two are playing? No daughter of mine is this cheap!"

Marie ran straight to the front door and started screaming into the hallway.

"Everyone, come look! This man kidnapped my daughter and forced her to live with him! He won't even marry her! He's trying to get it for free! He's a predator!"

Her shrieks immediately prompted the sound of neighbors opening windows and cracking their doors open.

People loved a good spectacle.
