Elegant and serene.
If Ottilie Sewell didn't know the older woman's ruthless methods, she would have thought Marcella was merely a delicate orchid raised in a greenhouse.
Yorath Fordham walked in and announced, "Mom, let me introduce you. This is Ottilie, the woman I'm with."
Ottilie had repeatedly declared she wasn't interested in Yorath.
So, when he introduced her this way, she didn't react, merely offering Marcella a polite nod.
"Good evening, Mrs. Fordham."
Marcella smiled gracefully. "Ms. Sewell, we didn't have much time to chat during our last meeting, but after hearing Yorath talk about you, I feel the need to get to know you all over again."
Ottilie smiled without a word.
Yorath placed his food containers on the table. "Ottilie cooked these at home. I want you to try her food."
Ottilie stared at the containers silently.
Marcella smiled. "Ms. Sewell is a talented actress and an excellent cook. No wonder she knows exactly how to make Yorath happy."
Yorath pulled out a chair for his mother.
Ottilie took a seat on her own, replying with a smile, "Thank you for the compliment, Mrs. Fordham."
Yorath sat between them. "Mom, Ottilie is on the quieter side. Don't intimidate her."
Marcella glanced at her son, then turned to the waiter. "You may serve the food."
High-end restaurants these days were all about theatrical service to justify astronomical prices.
The presentation had to be extravagant.
The restaurant was rolling out the Emperor's Feast.
A line of young women wearing bespoke silk gowns served the dishes.
Once the food was set, one server stood beside each guest, dedicated to serving their portions.
