Right then, Gillian and Elara watched Elowen walk up to the tree. She only glanced around briefly before hurrying off, as if she had urgent business elsewhere.
Something major must have unfolded outside.
Gillian slammed her fist against the translucent image, burning with frustration. “Can we only stand by and watch him frame Merrick?”
The pear blossom stone in her palm made contact with the white pear tree. In the next instant, the solid form of the tree began to materialize.
Gillian murmured, “Is this another portal node? Can we get out of here?”
She grabbed hold of the tree’s branch. The wood felt solid beneath her fingers. Before she could finish speaking, she vanished from the tunnel entirely.
Elara’s hand closed on empty air. Instead of rushing after Gillian right away, she turned to Lily. “Lily, touch this pear tree with your pear blossom stone, and you can exit through this spot.”
Lily nodded and pressed her tendril against the trunk.
The sweet scent of pear blossoms washed over Gillian, and she found herself standing in the main hall of Winterhush House.
She released a streak of golden psionic power, binding Omar tightly, and dragged him straight down from the tree branch.
The two faced each other beneath the pear tree.
“Who are you?” Omar stared at her in shock.
When he saw she was only a female beastman, he relaxed, assuming she was just a house attendant. “I am a guest staying at Winterhush House…”
He never finished his sentence. Gillian struck hard at his primal core, aiming to kill him on the spot. Thatcher had already fallen to Merrick. No one would believe Omar had only come to Wasteland City for sightseeing.
The blow left a dark bruise across Omar’s chest. He realized this female was far stronger than an ordinary servant. He snapped angrily, “Does Winterhush House intend to turn away all guests?”

The commotion drew the attention of the staff, yet no one dared step forward when they saw a level 9 beastman flying into a rage.
Linnea and Yvette stood up from the service counter the second they recognized Gillian’s face.
Linnea gasped, “It’s Gillian.”
Yvette said anxiously, “We need to alert the 9th Legion right away. Captain Sterling cannot get hurt.”
The two still owed Gillian and Elara their lives from the mercenary attack half a month earlier. They could not stand by and watch Gillian get killed.
A white root tendril lashed out and dragged Omar down to the ground before he could strike.
Gillian drove her psionic power toward his chest, yet she failed even to pierce his bio-armor.
Omar sneered viciously, “You think a female can kill me? What a joke…”
His wings sharpened into blade-like scales. He sliced through Lily’s tendrils and charged straight at Gillian. He seized her by the neck and slammed her hard against the pear tree
trunk.
A frigid cold poured down over his head.
Elara’s voice was icy sharp. “Who says a female can’t kill you?”
Omar looked up and saw a pale white figure that stirred a flicker of familiarity in his mind.
Sharp pain exploded in his chest. His hands erupted into flames, and he screamed in agony.
Gillian’s palm morphed into a stream of fire that pierced clean through his torso and tore out his beast crystal.
A mocking smile tugged at her pure, serene face. “You seem to hold female beastmen in very low regard.”
Omar pulled a small item from his pocket and pressed it against his chest, putting out the fire
at once.
Without his beast crystal, his golden wings shrank back into human arms, and his razor claws
