Chapter 316 Such Unwavering Trust

Elara asked urgently, “Freya, can you get through to Commander Cole?”

Freya replied, “I’ve already reached out to him, but there is a five-minute signal delay. I can only hope he hasn’t struck down that Phoenixkin man yet.”

She stared at Elara and the hall visible in the background, completely stunned.

Freya said, “You’re inside Winterhush House? That’s impossible. Even on Griffin Warship at full speed, the trip from the taint source to Wasteland City takes two full days.”

Elara said quickly, “I’ll explain everything later. Can you cut off the live stream’s ID and shut down the broadcast?”

Freya nodded firmly. “I will do everything I can.”

The arena battle was nearly finished. Freya messaged Number Five and Number Six and ordered them to wipe out every remaining parasite.

Milo and Hugh acknowledged the order and shouted their commands. “All troops finish off your targets and wait for teleportation. We’re moving outside to hunt these pests and wipe them out entirely.”

The soldiers shouted in unison, “Yes, sir!”

Many level 2 psionic forms in the arena broke through to level 3. The parasites were slaughtered in an instant.

The soldiers were hungry for real open-field combat.

The next second, Freya locked down the arena system. She pushed the full processing power of Blue Phoenix and the Cryolotus Wrist Terminal to its absolute limit.

She finally made contact with the two stray fragments of Blue Phoenix that had gone missing.

Freya immediately locked onto them and forced the fragments to share their real-time coordinates under pressure from the main core.

Two sets of location data popped up. One was inside the parasite nest, and the second was right here in Wasteland City.

Freya sent both coordinates straight to Merrick and Gillian.

She typed, “Gillian, track this point. It might let us shut down the live broadcast.”

Gillian studied the coordinate reading with a complicated expression. The marker pointed directly at the white pear blossom tree standing right in front of her.

She held her wrist terminal close to the tree and checked inch by inch, but the navigation data kept jumping wildly out of alignment.

Gillian finally understood why Omar had said burning the terminal would not work.

George grew anxious watching Gillian fail to locate the fragment.

He leaned over and saw the coordinate display flickering nonstop with no fixed position.

George frowned. “Gillian, what is going on? With coordinates this unstable, how can we find the fragment?”

Gillian said, “The magnetic field around this pear tree is warped. It grows right on top of the stellar rift.”

She turned to Elara, suddenly remembering there was still a small amount of stardust sand left.

Elara said, “We got lucky, Gillian.”

She placed her hand gently on Gillian’s shoulder and emptied the last of the stardust sand from the box. The glowing particles drifted down over the pear tree, wrapping the whole area in brilliant, shimmering light.

Gillian smiled gratefully, “Thank you, Elara.”

She turned her head to look at the white pear tree. The stardust sand quickly stabilized the gravitational field, and the correct coordinates locked into place.

Golden psionic power reached deep into the tree and pulled out the feather fragment of Blue Phoenix.

Gillian breathed out in relief. “I found it.”

She inserted the Blue Phoenix feather into her wrist terminal right away.

The device was actively transmitting data.

Omar had used this fragment as a signal transmitter to relay footage from the Central World Marker out to the public.

His accomplices inside Wasteland City then forwarded the feed across all Elemental Cities.

Gillian locked onto a list of signal hubs across Wasteland City and passed the list over to George.

She ordered, “George, Elara, track down all these operators and arrest every one of them. Kill anyone who resists arrest on the spot.”

“Okay, Gillian, I’ll be right there.” George saluted sharply in legion formation and rushed out at

once.

Elara watched Gillian’s tense face. “Can we shut down the stream now?”

Gillian shook her head. “We can, but we cannot do it this way. If we cut the broadcast abruptly, Merrick will never be able to clear his name.”

She was ready to take a huge risk and flip the whole situation around.

Her fingers squeezed tight around the Blue Phoenix fragment.

Elara covered Gillian’s hand with her own. “You’ve always been sharp. Do whatever you have to do. I trust you will pull this off.”

If things go wrong, we will take the fall for you.

Tears pricked Gillian’s eyes. She had not expected such unwavering trust from Elara.
