"Phoebe, don't cry!" Julian rushed to comfort her. "Phoenix orchestrated this on purpose. She wants to use these massive projects to establish her dominance in the company."
He narrowed his eyes, a cold sneer forming on his lips. "But I refuse to let her get what she wants. I'm going to get Dad right now, and the two of us will handle this personally."
"With the two absolute heads of Prescott Group negotiating with them face-to-face, they won't dare disrespect us."
HR Department, Manager's Office.
Phoenix sat comfortably behind the executive desk, leisurely sipping a cup of hot tea.
Felix hovered anxiously by her side, bowing and scraping to accommodate her every whim, utterly terrified of provoking the heiress.
Initially, when Phoenix confidently declared she would make Julian beg her to take the Project Manager position, he thought she was being delusional.
But he had just received word that the representatives from Sterling Group and Ignis Global had explicitly demanded Phoenix handle the negotiations.
These were billion-dollar projects. The conglomerate absolutely could not afford to lose them.
It looked like Julian really was going to have to crawl in here and beg her.
Ding!
A text message popped up on his phone.
Reading it, Felix's face fell in surprise. "Ms. Prescott, Julian and Mr. Prescott just went into the reception room to personally meet with the representatives."
He frowned, suddenly looking worried. "With both the President and the Executive Vice President stepping in, I'm afraid... the reps might just back down out of respect."
Phoenix let out a cold, mocking laugh. "Warren is a useless coward who only secured his position by riding his wife's coattails. What kind of respect does he command? And Julian is even worse."
She narrowed her eyes, seeing straight through the hollow core of their authority.
"The sheer stagnation this company has suffered over the years is entirely thanks to those two idiots."
Felix was internally stunned. Only the true Prescott heiress would dare speak such blatant treason out loud.
But undeniably, she was right. Ever since Alistair had stepped back, the conglomerate's growth had crawled to a sluggish, pathetic halt.
"Felix, do you know any fun places around here?" Phoenix asked suddenly.
"Fun places? Well, there's a high-end lounge just down the block..." Felix answered instinctively, but as his brain caught up, his eyes widened in sheer panic. "Ms. Prescott, are you..."
Sitting across from them, Warren and Julian were smiling apologetically, sweating profusely under the immense pressure.
They had arrogantly assumed that their personal appearance would force the representatives to yield and proceed with the negotiations.
They couldn't have been more wrong.
Both Macy and Quentin were dead set: Bring Phoenix out, or the deals were officially dead.
"Mr. Prescott, let me reiterate this for you one last time." Macy tapped a manicured nail sharply against the table, her gaze as lethal as a knife. "The Westside Development Project is my personal gift to Phoenix. She is the only person authorized to oversee it. Do you understand?"
"Ms. Monroe, I sincerely apologize. My daughter is feeling quite unwell today and simply cannot make it in." Warren offered an awkward chuckle, desperately trying to stall for time. "How about this? I will oversee the negotiations and sign the contracts today, and once everything is finalized, I will personally hand the project over to her?"
Julian hurriedly chimed in, plastering on a charming smile. "Ms. Monroe, the last time you were at Eclipse Nightclub, you had a bit too much to drink and were being harassed by those thugs. I was the one who bailed you out."
"Are you joking right now, Julian?" Macy scoffed, a look of pure disgust crossing her face. "You bailed me out? Weren't you the one interrupting my drinks with Phoenix? We were having a perfectly good time until you jumped in with your obnoxious grandstanding. It was pathetic."
Julian's face flushed with deep humiliation and anger. "Ms. Monroe, don't twist the facts. You were surrounded by Leo Vance's men..."
"Bullshit! Leo was just putting on a show for us, get it?" Macy yelled, slamming her hands onto the table, her commanding corporate aura exploding into the room. "If you don't believe me, bring Leo down here right now and we'll ask him to your face!"
