Chapter Two Hundred Seven
Diana reached up and touched his cheek.
“You cannot carry everything alone.”
“I know.”
“Do you?”
Talon leaned into her palm.
“I have you.”
“Yes”
“Enzo.”
“Yes.”
“Galvin.”
“Yes.”
“Our warriors.”
“Yes.”
“Ravenna.”
Diana smiled slightly.
“And even Damon.”
Talon grimaced.
“Unfortunately.”
Diana laughed softly.
“You are becoming friends.”
“No.”
“You are.”
“We tolerate each other.”
“For Willow.”
“Yes.”
“And because you respect him.”
Talon remained silent. Diana’s smile widened
Fenrir ignored him. Diana
The forest appeared calm.
Too calm.
“I do not know when Thorne will attack.”
“No one does.”
“That is what bothers me.”
Talon stepped closer.
“We are assuming it will be soon.”
“Yes.”
“But we do not know whether soon means tomorrow… Tonight. Or three days.”
Diana nodded.
“Which means we need our strength.”
“Exactly.”
Talon placed one hand over her stomach.
“Especially you.”
Diana looked down at his hand.
“Our pups.”
“Our pups.”
His expression softened immediately.
“They need you strong.”
Diana covered his hand with hers.
“They need both of us strong.”

Talon niled.
“Then rest.”
She looked up at him.
“You really will use our own pups against me whenever you want me to do something, won’t you?”
“Yes.”
His answer came without shame. Diana laughed.
“At least you admit it.”
“I am an honest mate.”
“Manipulative.”
“Protective.”
“Overbearing.”
“Devoted.”
“Annoying.”
“In love.”
That stopped her. Talon smiled. Diana shook her head.
“You always know how to save yourself.”
“I have years ahead of me with you. I need survival skills.”
She laughed again. For a moment, the tension surrounding them disappeared.
Then Diana’s face became serious once more.
“Tomorrow, I want to be part of the strategy meeting.”
“Yes.”
“No deciding things behind my back because you think I am pregnant and fragile.”
“I never said fragile.”
“Good.”
“You are terrifying.”
Diana smiled.
“Better.”
Talon chuckled.

“But Diana…”
His voice changed. She knew immediately that the joking was over.
“When the attack happens..”
“It will happen.”
“Yes.”
“When it does…”
His hand tightened around hers.
“I need you to understand something.”
Diana waited.
“Thorne is going to come for you.”
“I know.”
“He will ignore warriors if he has to.”
“I know.”
“He will sacrifice every feral he controls if it gives him one opportunity to reach you.”
“I know that too.”
Talon’s expression tightened.
“And now he may know about the pups.”
Diana’s hand moved protectively over her stomach.
“Yes.”
“That makes him more dangerous.”
“I know.”
Talon stepped closer.
“So when I ask you to stay behind a defensive line…”
Diana’s eyes narrowed. He quickly changed his wording.
“Not hide.”
“Good correction.”
“When I ask you to stay within the strongest formation…”
“That I can agree with.”

“When ! ask warriors to surround you.”
Talon.”
“Diana.”
She sighed.
“Fine.”
“And when I tell you to retreat if Ravenna says Thorne’s magic becomes too dangerous…”
Diana became quiet. Talon waited. Her expression hardened.
“I will not run while everyone else stays behind.”
“I am not asking you to abandon anyone.”
“Then what are you asking?”
“To survive.”

His answer was immediate. The simplicity of it silenced her. Talon reached up and cupped her face.
“That is all I want.”
His thumbs brushed over her cheeks.
“I do not care about pride. I do not care what anyone thinks. I do not care if every wolf in every kingdom calls me an overprotective Alpha.”
His voice lowered.
“I want you alive.”
Diana’s expression softened.
“I want our pups alive.”
His forehead touched hers.
“And if that means I have to stand between you and Thorne… I will. If it means I take every attack meant for you… I will.”
Diana shook her head immediately.
“No.”
Talon frowned.
“No?”
“You do not get to decide that either.”
“Diana.”

“We already talked about this.”
She placed both hands against his chest.
“We fight together.“–
“I know.”
“You do not sacrifice yourself for me.”
His jaw tightened.
“I would.”
“I know you would. That is the problem.”
Talon stared at her. Diana continued.
“I cannot live in a world where you are gone either.”
His expression softened.
“You think I could raise our pups while knowing you died because you decided my life was more important than yours?”
Talon said nothing.
“You think Artemis could live without Fenrir?”
Inside their bond, Artemis immediately answered.
“No.”
Fenrir became very quiet. Diana’s voice softened.
“We all survive.”
She touched his cheek again.
“That is the plan. Not me surviving. Not the pups surviving. All of us.”
Talon closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them, Diana could see how much he wanted to argue. But he also knew she was right.
“We all survive,” he repeated.
“Yes.”
“Our family.”
“Yes.”
“Our pack.”
“Yes”
“And then…”
“Diana smiled softly.
“…when this is finally over, you can hover over me as much as you want.”
Talon’s eyebrows rose.
“As much as I want?”

“Until the pups are born.”
“That is dangerous permission.”
“I already regret saying it.”
Talon laughed.
Fenrir immediately sounded delighted.
“We heard her.”
Diana groaned.
“Of course you did.”
