Thatcher had not expected such a new discovery. He hurried to fire back a question, “What did you find?”

The reply came right away. Merrick typed, “The 9th Legion has figured out a special use for the flower beasts.”

Merrick shifted his posture; standing for so long had made his legs sore. He began walking deeper into the base, moving farther and farther out of the camera’s view.

Thatcher’s full attention locked onto that sentence. He rubbed his cracked, dry knuckles. Greed, anxiety, and dread twisted together inside him.

The host body he had seized was already well past its prime. He was nearly sixty years old, and his natural talent had hit a hard ceiling.

Breaking through level 10 to return to the Central World was no longer realistic. Without that breakthrough, he would die the moment this body reached the end of its lifespan.

Many of his kin on Capital Planet had already perished. He was not going to meet the same fate here.

The young flower beasts had triggered one evolution for their kind, and they could do the same for him.

Thatcher softened his tone, growing warm and eager to reconnect.

He typed, “Eliot, your parents and I were close friends. They died tragically at Radiant Mercy Hospital, yet I still think of them often. That’s exactly why I came personally to bring you over to Capital Planet.

“Don’t underestimate the beastmen of this world—especially the females.

“Female beastmen on this planet recreated that energy during the original experiments. Unfortunately, the trial spiraled out of control. The base was destroyed under mysterious circumstances, and most research records vanished.”

Thatcher swallowed hard, replaying the brief glimpse he had caught of the flower beasts in the video.

He planned to feast on two of them this time.

As for the rest of his clan, the Central World Marker would keep pumping more eggs through the portal nonstop.
