Freya also wanted to stay behind and guard Gillian, so she drank the illusory-face draught and took Elara’s place.

This way, both missions could move forward smoothly.

Freya sent her reply right away.

She typed, “You and Gillian stay sharp. Everything is under control on our end. Once we lock down the situation, Commander Cole will bring troops to back you up.”

Elara typed back, “Got it.”

Leila dove underground quickly at first. The deeper they traveled, the slower their movement became. They narrowly avoided detection by scaled parasites more than once.

Leila finally had to stop moving entirely.

The coordinates for the Central World Marker were clearly marked on the map. Even so, they circled repeatedly and still could not lock onto the exact spot.

“I think there might be some interference here.” Gillian stared at the numbers on her wrist terminal.

Leila reached the target zone, yet the coordinates went haywire the second they moved one step forward.

Shift a little to either side, and the reading would be completely off.

This stretch of land was deeply strange.

Elara pushed down the unease coiling in her chest. Something felt terribly wrong. “Maddox, does this place remind you of somewhere?”

Maddox checked the navigation and coordinate data on his terminal and understood the problem. “You haven’t completely lost your sharp instincts as Ice Shadow. Good for you.”

Elara clicked her tongue, her tone full of obvious regret. “You’re the one who’s slowed down. It took you this long to figure it out.”

Gillian caught the hint that the two of them had seen a nearly identical location before.

She asked, “Elara, what place are you two talking about?”

Elara’s expression turned serious, and she explained the whole story carefully. “This reminds me of the Stellar Ore Black Hole on Capital Planet. The coordinates there are always scrambled. If you don’t mark your path with special tools, you will get permanently lost inside.”

Gillian pressed, “What is the Stellar Ore Black Hole used for?”

Elara answered, “It’s an ore mine. It holds countless rare minerals, stones that are so stunning they look like they don’t belong to this world.”

As she spoke, she pulled a small metal box out of the storage space on her wrist terminal.

She flipped the lid open, revealing clusters of indigo star sand with jagged edges.

Gillian was dazzled for a moment. It looked as if the box held actual fragments of stars.

Elara explained, “This is gravity sand. Sprinkle it on the ground, and it rebuilds the local gravitational field. The coordinates will stabilize right away. I only have this small amount left, so we have to build the positioning step by step using physical markers.”

Maddox’s eyes twitched when he saw the familiar metal container holding the stardust sand. He blurted out a question without thinking. “Where did you get this stardust sand?”

Elara grinned and kept her answer vague. “Some things are better left unsaid.”

She opened the box wide and tossed the stardust sand into the tunnel without delay.

Bright, multicolored light filled the passage, lighting up every corner.

Everyone’s gaze locked onto the glowing dust.

Gillian suspected the sand did not actually belong to Elara. After seeing all the rare potions Elara had pulled out before, she guessed this treasure also came from Maddox.

Elara glanced over her shoulder and smiled, “Does it look good, Maddox?”

Her breathtaking face looked almost unreal amid the shimmering light. Maddox, who had been wearing a stern frown, froze mid-sentence. All the sharp questions he had planned to ask died on his lips.

He had always known Elara was beautiful, and her smile was wildly charming. Still, he had not expected her looks to grow even more striking after six years apart.

Maddox said sincerely, “It’s pretty.”

Pretty? If he thinks so, I’ll toss another handful.
