Chapter 333 Fallen for the Diversion
Gillian and the others hid beneath the starry sky not far away.
Behind them stood the frozen Department of Justice beastmen.
Everyone from the metal meeting room had been pulled into the arena simulation.

The three officers sat with their eyes squeezed shut, grumbling bitterly. They thought they might escape after being dragged into this strange space, only to end up trapped and frozen by Elara all over again.
All their anger was for nothing.
Gillian’s expression was tight with tension. “Blue Phoenix, what rank is Ralph’s psionic form? Why is it so much larger than Merrick’s?”
The Blue Phoenix replied, “Scan complete. Merrick holds a level 3 golden spirit stone psionic form. The Supreme Leader’s form is maxed out-sun spirit stone, the highest tier.”
The arena psionic forms had six grades in total: level I was cyan spirit stone, level 2 jade spirit stone, level 3 golden spirit stone, level 4 star spirit stone, level 5 moon spirit stone, and level 6 sun spirit stone.
“He is that powerful? Can Merrick stand against him?” Gillian asked.
Watching the towering psionic form, Gillian felt both relief and dread.
She was relieved that Ralph had not been parasitized, and she was terrified he would hurt Merrick.
Even the fiercest tiger would never harm its cub, yet Ralph was fully ready to execute his own son personally. What kind of father was he?
Gillian asked, “What about me? Do I stand a chance against him?”
She glanced at her own status on the screen: level 5 moon spirit stone psionic form.
Disappointment tugged at her heart. She was one rank below Ralph. Then she remembered her flame had defeated higher-ranked foes before.
It is not impossible; there may still be a slim chance.
First, everyone else had to escape.

Ralph always used hostages to threaten people.
Gillian pressed Lily’s small hand into Elara’s palm.

Then she lifted the Blue Phoenix from her shoulder and set it down on Elara’s arm. She spoke solemnly, “Elara, tell Freya to get everyone out now. Take the flower beasts and go. I’m going to help Merrick.”
Elara knew she had to obey Gillian, no matter how reluctant she felt.
Lily shook her head firmly; she would never leave Gillian behind.
Elara said, “Lily, listen carefully. Your mom wants you to lead Ruby and the rest away. There are still countless unhatched eggs. Can’t you see how badly she needs you to protect them?”
Hesitation crossed Lily’s face. “But what will happen to Mom?”
Once Lily stopped struggling, Elara told the Blue Phoenix to contact Freya and request an immediate teleport.
Freya said, “I will pull you out right now.”
She thought of Maddox, who had just returned and been dragged into the arena by her, and immediately warned Elara, “Your mate is also inside. Send him over to back up Commander Cole and Gillian.”
The second Freya finished speaking, a powerful aura wrapped around Elara.
“Elara.” Maddox said.
A pair of strong arms circled her waist.
Elara spun around to find Maddox standing behind her. “How did you get here?”
“I was dragged in against my will.” Maddox made no rush to join the fight; he waited patiently.
Elara asked, “Aren’t you going to help Merrick and Gillian?”
Maddox frowned. “They are family. No one will get seriously hurt. If I jump in, all three might turn on me together.”
Elara fell speechless.
Lily also stared at him blankly.

Even as he said this, his gaze never left the fight unfolding ahead.
He cared deeply about Merrick.
Elara snorted, “I hope you mean every word of that.”

With Gillian joining the fight, Merrick was no longer completely outmatched. Even so, Ralph’s attacks grew more brutal and merciless.
The two of them were soon sent flying backward by his blows.
“Shut down this arena right now, or do not blame me for being ruthless.” Ralph was still willing to spare Merrick if he complied.
When Lily saw Gillian injured, she lost control completely. She shifted into a giant lily and charged straight at Ralph to fight him.
The sudden movement caught Ralph’s eye, and he turned to give chase.
Elara said, “Maddox, Freya is sending you to Gillian and Merrick. It’s your turn now.”
She threw her arms around Lily’s waist and whispered a few words. Lily stopped fighting and instead fled with Elara, their figures clearly visible to draw Ralph away.
